Anybody find a decent fuel pump pushrod?

Check this out. I bought 3 supposedly nos pushrods a couple of years ago from a seller in ebay. Been tuning the carb on my Super Bee this summer. Been hammering on it quite a bit while doing this, if that really matters. Down to wot throttle and the last time out it felt like it was running out of gas. Pulled it apart to check and clean the filter. Luckily I decided to pull the pump and check the rod. Wore .305" in about 700 miles.

Take both to a heat treat shop. Have them do a rockwell test on good end. Then ask them how much harder they recommend. And have harden it. Think induction hardening is the way to do it, you only harden near the ends. You don't want it glass hard. If you have several maybe have them do them to different hardness.
It only takes a few minutes to induction harden those pieces.
 
Wonder what the cam looks like. Now all that metal is throughout the engine.
 
You didnt get NOS push rods. Throw them out and get real OE mopar push rods
 
Hughes makes a good one apparently. That is the route I am going to go.
 
I saw ARP sells them the other day.... I wonder if they have a Mopar application??.... if they don't make a decent one, we're screwed!

My thoughts exactlty. Problem is that real ones are pretty hard to find.

I was thinking the same thing. Probably should change the oil and filter and hope most of it got caught in there.
 
How can originals be hard to find? I read that Chrysler built 3 million 383 engines and at least 3/4 of a million 440s along with all the other different size big block engines. Where did all those parts go and what happened to all the service parts? boggles the mind.
 
You could probably torch harden the ends then polish them

Thrown away, I know I did back when I rebuilt my first engine and thought “newer is better”
 
I’ve dug two out of my stash the other day and need to measure them, if the measure good they go in the tool box for emergency use!

Well, if you have any new originals, I would be interested in them. Believe me, they are hard to find.

I have a good (used) OEM pushrod you can have. It's from a mid-70s RV block in very good original condition and the wear is as it should be....a little shiny spot where it rode on the cam and pump arm but not worn away.
You can have it fer nuthin' just PM me a place to mail it to if you want it....
