Greetings, I want to remove the gas tank from my 69 Charger….now after taking off the strap bolts will the tank simply slide off from underneath…..or is there more to it…..I want to clean it up…I’m hoping removing it will be a simple task…not much gas left in it which will help with weight…..all responses will be greatly appreciated……Steve

Did you unhook the filler neck from the quarter panel?

‘66 Plymouth is probably different but along with the filler neck hose there is a vent hose from the tank just above where the filler neck goes in.

Does the filler pipe unbolt from the tank once the pipe is removed from the gas cap port…

the filler tube slips into a rubber seal in the tank there is also a rubber gasket to seal where the tube passes through the trunk pan. you need to remove the filler tube first

Filler tube, vent tube, fuel level electrical connector, ground strap, fuel feed line.

Hi Steve
I had to do the same. I put some dry ice in the tank while removing (dry ice sublimates into CO2- old aircraft mechanics trick)
