I have a problem with the hood clearance and the new Edelbrock Torker intake on my 496 Stroker. I‘d like to use the original RAM Air air cleaner but it’s way to high now! Other air cleaners look too shitty and I don‘t want to buy a Six Pack hood.
Is there a way to make that fit under the hood? Are there drop base products??

There is no point in spending money to make horse power and then strangling it with a poor flowing air cleaner. I ran into the same problem so I scooped the hood and went with a 16x4 element.

I've been down this road on a 70 Roadrunner air grabber. Basically it's just the factory 4 bbl or C4HB (?-wrong number, but something like that) that will fit with the factory ram air or air grabber. You've only about 1" max height to play with...it's tight.

I highly recommend you look into a six pack setup and check the height on the engine...I "think" (repeat "think") it will fit. A Hemi 2x4 or 6-pack setup fits under a 70 air grabber hood. In '69, the Hemi 2x4 fits under the 69 ram air hood (or a 69 air grabber hood)........so, I "think" a six pack setup would fit under your 69 ram air hood as long as you use a 70-71 air cleaner

I went through the same thing on my Super Bee. Had the Ram Charger setup so I almost had to keep it imo. Had a 400/500 stroker built with a Weiand Action + intake because of ductwork clearance. I always wonder how much more power it would make with an Edelbrock Performer RPM instead of the Weiand, but that would never fit.

Yes, maybe all true, but I have that Edelbrock Intake and want to use the RAM Air Aircleaner. So there might be only one solution buying a Six Pack Hood, I guess.

I had the same problem. Lowest intake I could find was the Edelbrock RPM Performer. I modified my air cleaner base (made lower). Now clearance is not an issue.
