My answer changes if it is a 500 mile trip once per month, verses a 250 mile trip 3 times per year.

Answers always do there is no correct one hell 5 miles really fast 500 with gas in the tank.

My smallblock runs at 3,000 rpm at 70 mph, 727, 3.23, 26.5" tire. I regularly do 120 mile round trips on the freeway and it's no issue. My preference would probably be 2,500 to 2,700 rpm though, that's a sweeter spot for cruising in my car, but I like to keep up with the traffic.

Well I plan on weekend driving it around town, visit friends and to use it for the holidays trip wich is like 300km drive 4 time a year and of course use it as a daily during holidays

Okay. Prefered 2500. But for as little as you are on long trips, I'd be fine with 3000.

My build (440/4 speed) started with 3.73's then quickly changed to 3.23's mainly to slow the blower down. went from 3000 rpm to 2400 rpm on highway, very happy with results in town cruising and highway speed and also the performance gain the gear change made, a world of difference. Your preferred cruising rpm will be a compromise between what you prefer and what your drivetrain is ideally set up for. Once you find that sweet spot you will know it.
