What is the old and always rule lol Check if the weapon is loadedOne of my first jobs was as a sales clerk in a Walmart-type store (back in the early 70's). Sporting goods and toys. It was a two story with an glass sided escalator. One day the department manager is showing a shotgun to a customer. He (the manager) has it pointed towards the escalator and he pulls the trigger and blows out the whole side. Fortunately nobody was on it at the time. Nobody knows who loaded the thing but things sure changed after that little incident !! Imagine thinking afterwards that it could just as easily have been pointed at "you" !!!
There is no cure for stupid. In the late eighties I worked in the oil patch, literally out in the middle of nowhere. The locals rightfully resented the oil and logging companies coming in and pillaging. There were a few violent episodes, including a shot into one of our trucks. Because I worked alone, away from camp I carried an AR with a thirty rounder in it, with one more on the dash.
One evening in the camp a guy asked about my AR. I went out to my truck, removed the mag, checked for clear, and brought the rifle in to show.
The guy admired it, turned it over in his hands examining it closely. Then quicker then anyone could react he pointed at the middle of a guys chest and squeezed the trigger. “click!”
We were all dumbfounded. Never in my years have I seen that happen before or since.
That’s why you ALWAYS check for clear.

Rule 2 is what if one may ask? That is rule #1.
Are there safteys on guns they are so scary. And it is "don't point a gun at anything (person, object, whatever) you aren't prepared to destroy."
Years ago I damn near beat a guy half to death for doing the same thing.....at me!!In the late eighties I worked in the oil patch, literally out in the middle of nowhere. Some have physical safeties, but in the end the ONLY safety is the brain of the person holding it.Are there safteys on guns they are so scary.
