8 days to get a lifter from Texas to central florida....

The USPS has become an entitlement program for people that don't really want to work but have to have a job.
Short of killing the Postmaster General, they can never get fired and after they retire we pay them their salary and benefits for the rest of their life.

**** them

We live in a smaller town, and like our mail carrier. He’s been working the same routes for decades

We have a similar situation where we live. Our rural carrier is a nice gentleman and has had the route for years.
I should've explained my opinion better as I was referring to the larger areas and cities. BTW Those hard-working carriers are quickly being replaced with the lazy entitlement crowd.

We have a great mail lady. When she goes on vacation our mail is so messed up by the temps filling in for her. My two neighbors and myself have to stand there and sort our mail everyday. When the mail lady comes back I'll ask her how do we get our pay and benefits from the post office, we've been working for them for a week now. She agrees with us on what they're hiring to do the job now days. It's everywhere!

It all in Alinsky's book..

Postal workers don't get a pension. No such thing. They get what their retirement plan gives that they pay into. I know 2 postal workers. And a Minnesota January morning would bury any Southern boy.

Shipping and freight has been slow across the board. Even Amazon sucks today. Postal workers? At least they're working. Hard I might add. USPS's volumes crush Fed Ex, UPS, Amazon, DHL combine. If they didn't exist? Mail and freight costs would be astronomical.

Of all things to gripe? I would pick something else. USPS is older than congress, US Navy. It's sewn into the fabric of this country.

Sorry. I'm sick and tired of all the Karen's bitching from the cheapseats. USPS has been one of United States biggest success entities. Of course they're not perfect. But better than any mail/package delivery system this planet has ever seen.

I've researched as part of an undergraduate thesis. I too thought they were outdated and obsolete. Until I got an understanding of their daily volumes. They move more mass than any port in the world. And their final destination numbers? All ports combine. It's staggering. At the time? They were over 1/2 the total mailings worldwide. (I think China and India growth has cut into that percentage. But they still bury both those countries.)

I think they deserve at least a tip of the hat?

I'm still using USPS when I can.

Here's two examples of what shipping is on a $6.00 differential cross pin bolt. I'm not disclosing who the one vendor is that didn't list USPS.

This would cost me a total of $23.15 if I would have chose the cheapest UPS ground.

This was $10.66 total using USPS. Tracking does show this Saturday. I ordered it Tuesday. Four days from their California warehouse.

Same mail Lady here sine 97 when I moved in. I live in the city but my street has the box a the curb , I used to see her every day when I took lunch. Now I see her once in awhile, her schedule changed to "help" the slower carriers. I used to leave her a bottle of crown royal until she told me she takes 2 weeks off in December and the other smuck was taking it. I haven't seen her in a few years but I'm told she is still on route.
Back on topic...even summit took 5 days from OH to MI

I'm from Jersey and worked outside everyday.

They are 8 BILLION dollars in the hole!!! How is that a success?!?
Even Amazon sucks today.
Hmmmmm...I ordered something from Amazon yesterday and received it TODAY!!
Go to ANY post office in a large suburban or urban area and experience the crappy service that is given.
A few months ago I paid over $48.00 for USPS next day mail. It didn't arrive for 4 days. No weather issues, no emergencies, just terrible service. My wife contacted the post office where it was mailed from and she was told basically TOO BAD!!! No money refunded, not even a phony apology.
The days of the USPS being a great entity are LONG gone!!
It's a government funded disaster of an entitlement program.
And they just announced last week that their already slow service would be getting worse. Now, instead of 3 day average for 1st class mail, it is 4-5 day average.
Oh yeah, and a price increase is in the works!!

The USPS stole $250 from me because they threw my crate of a torque plate around and tried to deliver just the top of the crate. Of course it was refused by the buyer and the ******* P.O. refuses to refund even mail fees even though they provided no service for me. Another useless Government agency. They must have some real smart people in that agency. I wonder why this guy is mailing just a piece of wood to somebody says the P.O. worker.

Canada post is a bit different up here, but the lazy carriers are being hired here as well. Computers tell them everything.

I live and grew up on a family run farm thatbhas been in the same spot for 175 years. Our mail lady recently retired. She delivered mail to 4 generations of my family. (Parents live on opposite side of driveway) She would go above an beyond over the years. The last 10 years of her employment parcels increased on her and overwhelmed her.
My wife does alot of online shopping to save pennies. My boss always laughed because the mail lady would stop at my job and deliver the heavier packages to me so i could take them out of her car. (My boss had same mail lady) On occasion she would catch my parents in town and get my dad to help her.

Yes its a small rural town. Our new carrier does not seem to know how to get the mail inside the mailbox or even in the correct one. I guess we were spoiled before

My mail lady retired last week and I think I'm going to miss her. Already finding my mail box left open with the newbie. If that keeps up, I may have to put a 'closure' on it. Other than that, no complaints in the 37 years I've lived here. I live just down the street from a pretty big Jr. College and have run across her mail delivering mail and packages there and well, her LLV was always full packages whenever I saw it. A buddy of mine down the street was a letter carrier (on foot) and worked in another town that's over 15 miles away and in a rough area and always had a bunch of those Dr. Scholl's inserts hanging in his garage to air out or dry every time I went there lol. He told me plenty of stuff about the post office there and well....sounded like a war zone.

There's a PO down the road from me in another city (I live in one of the corners right next to two other small cities) that I like better than the one that services my location which is an annex office. There's 3 PO's in my town and the mail from it and another goes to a central office before going to the Houston sorting center and can take 1-2 more days to get out of the Houston center. One day to get there and another to get sorted. The PO in the next town is about 3 miles from me and the mail from there goes straight to the Houston center and it's always on time. For shipping parts, I try to always use the flat rate priority boxes and so far, they have been the way to go. Years ago I shipped some small parts in a regular box and the guy didn't want to pay any extra for insurance etc and the next thing I know he's telling me the parts never made it. Well, there was no way to know back then so I refunded him and started using the flat rate boxes. Those come with 50 bucks of insurance along with a tracking number. I think now all packages have a tracking number tied to them.....?

Perhaps I need to backup here...
My reason for posting this was USPS announced last week that they would get slower with a 5 day standard time for mailing...
I was NOT complaining, just saying " They werent' joking"....

Doesn't matter because there's always going to be someone that wants to bitch. I posted about FB being down and ALL the haters came out to post lol. Thought about making a top 10 list of the ones with the most hates lol. Hey, that's a thought....we need a hate button to go with that like button :D
