Please help determine if engine VIN number is legit

Hello, hoping people can post me examples of their block VIN number stampings in order to help me determine if a car I’m looking at is legit. It Looks slightly ‘off’ to me so far.
I’m looking at 1971 car
Especially ones built at Hamtramck

A lot of them are half stamped, and double stamped. Remember, it was just an hourly worker doing his job, probably thinking about the hot waitress at the local diner.

In many cases, although mine has a nice clean stamp and I know where it's been it's entire life..

He asked the same question on the a-body side and posted a pic. It left a lot to be desired. Odd looking stamp, on a car he is considering, so he can't scrap the paint off and get a good look.

Then a pic posted on the B body site should be easy.

Plus, If he's asking about 71 Hamtramck, show him 71 Hamtramck. Apples to apples.

This is the one in question. It’s completely missing the plant stamp (Hamtramck) and to me it looks like the last 4 are a smaller font size and physically aren’t in the same line as the first two numbers of the sequence number, the last 4 numbers look smaller to me too.
The ‘1’ also looked deeply struck vs the remainder but a after seeing @dadsbee stamping I’m a little less worried about that.
Maybe the faint stuff is all normal and good but the 1’s make it look off. Not sure

Well that’s a good point. It wasn’t the current seller, he bought the car that way and I guess you never really know what one would do in order to make a fake.

Okay, the small block drainplug confused me. I thought it might be a cross bolt main. My big block doesn't have a plug there. Not as familiar with a smallblock.

I can barely make out the B on yours. Maybe the same applies to the one I’m looking at too then. All 340 cars were Hamtramck I think. Thanks!

Remember they swapped in new stamps as they wore out. Ones on all my engines are cleaner than all the other numbers, guess they got fresh 1 stamps. This one has a crisp 1 and 5 and the 8's are pretty beat... and yah that B has almost done it's life.

People think things were constant.

Things change.

Compare apples to apples.

Don't try a base the legitimacy of a 71 Hamtramck stamp by looking at stampings on a 69 Lynch Road car.
