Looks the same as the one on My 70 Charger 383 HP auto AC. No electric idle solenoid though but yes on the hot idle compensator and I spy the plastic insulator on the throttle stop screw for the dist sol ground. Ahh Memories..All '72 440 HP's used the same basic 4160 as the '70-71 383 HP's.

And this is the fix, those factory Holley’s were not very reliable for the most part.I had a '69 coronet 500 back in the day. It was equipped with a Holley 4 barrel. I was constantly in the shop messing with that holley. A fellow mechanic had a carter in the the bottom of his tool box and he gave it to me. I didn't rebuild it, I just washed it off in the parts washer, put it on and set the idle. It ran GREAT!!!! I never messed with it again.....

my brothers new 69 roadrunner with factory A/C had a holley. they were actually quite troublesome, as he had to readjust it every time the temps changed. My 69 383 cuda has a holley, as does a 72 340 I removed from a 72 Roadrunner.
Should have been the first year with a Thermoquad, I think.I have never seen a 340 with a factory installed Holley.
First year with Thermoquad is 71 Last year with Thermoquad was 73.Should have been the first year with a Thermoquad, I think.
I will send a picture, clearly original.I have never seen a 340 with a factory installed Holley.
Yeah a 68 NewYorker 440 had a Holley. I think 70-71 the B bodies and E bodies with 383's got them.
My 70 383 4 bbl Challenger came with an AVS.....Every 1970 B and E body with a 383 4 bbl had a Holley. No matter what the combo was. A/C, auto 4 speed, air grabber or not, and N95 emissions cars.
hey there John,I have never seen a 340 with a factory installed Holley.
As did my 70 383 road runner (auto). My 70 383 4 bbl Challenger came with an AVS.....
^^^^ I agree with all of you.I always said never say never when it comes to what Ma Mopar did.My 70 383 4 bbl Challenger came with an AVS.....

And I'm pretty sure mine came with the AVS new as I bought the car from the original owner. The car was really nice for being a 10 year old big block car with just the interior showing some signs of wear. He changed the original wheels and hub caps out for slotted mags and went with an Accel dual point and Accel wires and that was it....so he says. And iirc, the Holley carb base is different from the AVS carbs etc?^^^^ I agree with all of you.I always said never say never when it comes to what Ma Mopar did.
Sometimes I think it was what the line worker installed from the parts bin.
Carter bin empty ? Grab a Holley.
