Will buy a new Chrysler product ?

I miss my Chrysler 200, I called it my throw away car, it was cheap to buy. We all drove it for just running around. It got 28 or so mpg and with that 3.6 in it, it would flat get with the program. , but it had a serious case of torque steer, I mean real bad. With the traction control turned off and hammered at 20 mph, it would break loose and just smoke the tires.

I'll likely never buy a new car.

I have done fairly well buying 2-3 year old vehicles with factory warranty still in tact, skipping the initial multi-thousand dollar depreciation, and then driving them until they ain't worth nuthin' at least a decade later.

they ain't worth nuthin' at least a decade later.
Yeah, that's where I'm at now. 2 old cars and a truck. The truck I might put 1,000 miles a year on it.
The cars less than 10,000 between the 2 of them.None of them are high mileage .
I'll most likely just keep what I got and keep them maintained.

I love my Hellcat Redeye. 200 mph top end. 10 or 11 second quarter mile. "OK" fuel economy (around 14 mpg and my foot is really into it every time I drive it). Air conditioning, comfortable seats etc. etc.
Less than the cost of a '68 - '70 Charger RT AND with a warranty. Not scared to drive it in the rain. What's not to like? Hey, I'd still like to buy a second gen Charger R/T. But with the prices these days I think that ship has sailed for me.

I paid around $70,000 US for the car. A 2019 with a little over 20,000 miles on it. Paint correction, film, tinted windows, fancy exhaust. One adult owner. I thought this was a good deal.

AST new vehicle we bought was a 92 Toyota bought in 1991 4Runner. Drove it until 2012. 364,000 kilometers. Cost of vehicle including repairs and maintenance ended up at 249.00 per month.
Replaced it with a 2006 4 litre auto 4 Runner in 2012 now has 140,000 miles on it. Hauled a 66 Charger drag car back from Austin Tx. Great vehicle. Most likely will see us out. Never will buy a new vehicle.

I always bought late model used cars so the guy who bought it new got to deal with the big depreciation.
That changed in 2009 when I bought my first new car, a Challenger R/T. In 2014 I bought a new Dart as a daily driver and still have it, 105,000 miles now with no major issues so far, 30mpg, no complaints. It doesn't owe me anything at this point!
I bought a new Ram 2500 around a year ago. I had intended to buy used but we all know how bad the car market has gotten, and with a friend and family discount and ordered just how I wanted the price wasn't bad. May be the last truck I ever need and I hope to own it 10+ years.
For vehicles you own long term, there's something to be said for having a car since new so you know the service history. If it is a reliable car and you take good care of it, you can get many many years of service from it.

I got two more payments and my truck is played off! Probably never buying another new car again! I have no interest in electric golf carts!

I drove old stuff all my life. Live like nobody else so you can live like nobody else. (Ramsey). Now I’m just spending down the rotten kids inheritance. I’d get another Hellcat if I had somewhere to park it.

Most likely we will buy another new or newer mopar. I bought a new Jeep Rubi in 2019, Bought my wife a new Durango R/T in 2020 so we are good for a long time we don't put alot of miles on per year both are fun to drive hope to keep them for a long time!! My daily driver is a 2010 Ram 4x4 I'm guessing that will be next to get replaced probably for a newer Ram 3/4 ton camper puller as retirement is getting closer.....not sure how to feel about that, lol.

Wore out my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and bought a new one 6 months ago. I’ll wear this one out too with my 110 mile/day commute. I could not find a GCtrailhawk anywhere in SW US. Waited about 2 months for one to show up, had to pay sticker but I did get 0% as a bonus so didn’t have to fork over a bunch of cash.

every dealer was saying the same thing…no inventory and no dealing off sticker.

Yes, will be buying more, a Hellcat and Ram at the least. A cat is cheap compared to anything else I would want.

Nope.

I firmly believe. The days I own / purchase a brand new car ,,,,is done.
Been there. Done that and have no desire to do it again

Buy a new everyday driver (Wife's) about 4-5 yrs.
2022 Limited Longhorn on order, maybe by March? The trade in on her 2017 Quad cab P/U is absolutely insane, 10 -12K higher than 8 months ago. The price of new trucks will not be coming down, but the trade in for your <5 yr old truck will never be higher.
Now is the time if you have a nice clean trade in.
I will not be replacing my truck, 2011 Cummins Crew w/56k. To replace that one is north of 75K$!

Had to replace my 99 300M that got wrecked setting in a parking garage in 2011 so I bought this. It rides great, runs great and gets 21 mpg all day long

It’s a bummer that they abandoned the 200 and Dart. They were a good platform. The Dart needed more HP but the 200 was very nice.

I would wait until after November to buy a new car. Use this year to test drive some cars, as well as remind yourself how much you loathe car salespeople. Why do these people not know their product? What do they do all day?

I would not lease a car unless it had a really high residual value. Don't forget to get gap insurance.

I bought the Mrs a new 2020 Charger R/T in the summer of 2020. Just turned over 14k miles last weekend. She loves it. It's nice. Gas mileage is typically 20.3 mph for our mix of country roads and 55 mph state routes. No issues. It's a large, heavy car. It feels solid and handles fine. If it was my daily driver, then I would probably go with larger diameter anti-roll bars front and rear, as well as add a front strut tower brace. Earlier this week Dodge emailed me a $2,000 off coupon I can use on a 2021 Scat Pack Charger. I guess that's a deal nowadays, but it's nowhere near the deal I got on her car.:)

A Scat Pack Challenger would be a good daily driver for me, but not this year.

No pickups.

No minivans.

No SUVs.

No crossovers.

I just had a beer with my dealer he said used car prices will stay high for the next three years. Told me you’re better off buying new if you can afford it. He will still sell me a new one. $2000 under invoice. I lucky to have him as a friend

He doesn't happen to have a RAM dealership, does he? :D

I had company cars for many years that was a nice perk; but for the 2nd car I preferred to buy a used low-mileage car a couple years old optioned the way I wanted. Living in the rust-belt, I bought a couple of vehicles from sun-belt states a few times when wanting an older vehicle I liked 10 or 15 years old. Fly there and drive it back. After starting my biz requiring me to drive 35-40k a year, bought an ’03 Olds Aurora in ’05 with only 9,700 miles on it. (Also had a ’97 the first ride I bought after starting my biz I handed off to one of my kids).

I offered the dealer $20k on it figuring a low ball offer considering this car sold new for almost 40 grand, every option and the 8 engine. They countered with…$21k. Fine. Car with under 10k on it…barely 2 years old dang near half the cost new. Another ride (I had picked up out of state) was a ’90 Riv cuz my mother had one rusted to **** she just loved. Found one searching the net with 30k on it, one owner in 2009. Flew out to pick it up, it was all that had been advertised, looked like new always garaged. Funny as my mom was afraid to drive it fearing she’d damage it! Well, she didn’t have a garage moving to an apartment so I kept it in my garage most of the time and drove it more than she ever did. I’d tell her enjoy the car ma, dump your old one falling apart! Nope, she’d have none a that lol. I put maybe 15k on it over 6 years.

When she passed away, it was sad to sell it; but too much chit and cars for my garage. Sold it for the same price she had bought it for. And the guy that drove 60 miles to buy it was in his 80’s, lanky guy 6 feet tall, watching him finagle himself in that car as it sat low. He was a guy that also just loved that ride; I knew it was going to a nice home...for a while anyway.
