Some folks don't know that FedEx is actually a franchised corporation - deliveries
are made by franchise holders who have successfully won bids to deliver on behalf
of FedEx.
(This is opposed to UPS, whose employees all answer directly to UPS).
As such, some regions get better FedEx service than others, depending on how
well their franchisee handles their business... which of course leads me to the
point of this post:
As of now, #FedEx is no longer allowed on my property.

Reasons:
1. Repeatedly I have requested they NOT leave parcels on the far end of our detached garage,
unannounced - where they can NOT be seen from the house and where they
are NOT protected from the elements.
To date - they continue to deliver to us this way.

2. Despite my repeated requests not to (and even some attempts at
coaching), the driver invariably ruts the hell out of our gravel road
every time he comes up - because he doesn't apparently know
how to drive on gravel.
I have to repair the road every time he comes - and no other
delivery companies have such issues navigating the road.

3. I've witnessed them clumsily attempting to turn around right in
front of my garage, where there is a retaining wall and obviously
a bad place to turn a truck around.
I tell them not to....yet they persist.
Well, this past Saturday was the last straw on that count...see pics below.

The continued lack of respect for peoples' property and unwillingness
to PROPERLY deliver a damn package means they're no longer welcome
on this property.
Done with it.

Fedex "ground" is also a different company.
If you ask "fedex"anything pertaining to a fedex ground shipment you get blown off with an attitude.
It's like they don't even realize or care that they have basically the same name and should be at least somewhat affiliated.
I couldn't believe they were that unprofessional.

I've told the story here a couple of times about them leaving a 65# computer, clearly marked as such halfway up our 50 foot drive even though it was addressed to our neighbor. My wife mistakenly signed for it because they were walking up our driveway with it.
After the driver got the signature, he basically dropped it where it was. When my wife read the address and told the driver it wasn't ours he said "You signed for it" and drove off.

Ridiculous.

Needless to say, not my favorite company either.

My frickin S60 is sitting less than 50 miles from me since last Thursday.
It's supposed to be delivered to my work address, so I sat around til 7 Thursday.
Still at the service center.
I'd drive up and get it except there's no way to contact anyone at UPS.

I think the commerce tied to cheap and convenient shipping is going to be a thing of the past .

Have you tried doing a live chat with them?

EDIT: Wait, you talking about a Volvo S60?
I didn't even know UPS delivered cars?

Go get em' Ed. There's a reason why they are usually cheaper.

Small claims court.

Maybe a container of some sort at the end of the driveway for delivery's

That's to complicated for some people, they'd just rather bitch about it on a public forum so that nothing ever gets done about the actual problem! This is just another example of it!

As much as possible when ordering something I'll specify how and by who I want it shipped. If I can't do that to my satisfaction I'll shop else where.
Locally our FedEx Air is very good...fedex ground sucks monkey balls!
I'll pay extra to keep my stuff out of the postal service and fedex ground.
We receive both FedEx and UPS delivery's daily. If I was ranking delivery service from top to bottom it would be FedEx Air, then UPS then, bla bla bla, and last two places are fedex ground and the post office. Oh and can't forget Schneider Transport,
the World Champions of Suck!

Still boycotting Fedex, but can't recall why just now.

Dropped a package at UPS on Friday. They called about a package that evening. Unaccustomed to calls from any shipper, I was non-plussed and confused. It was a box I forgot to label and it still had the label with me as the receiver, so they brought it back on Saturday. It will go out today, thank you UPS.

I miss DHL being a more accessible competitor.

I had really good luck with them.

Seems like they've given up a LOT of market share.

Years ago I was selling motorcycle parts and there was a shipper called RSPS before Fedex ground. It was absolutely the worst. After Fedex ground came into being I had to pickup a package there and guess what. The same incompetent people that worked at RSPS were working at Fedex ground. For sometime Fedex would deliver my packages to an address four blocks away because they use the bar code scanner instead of the address on package. They have gotten better maybe thanks to Rockauto.

Used to be:

GPS

and

RPS

as well.

Yes, I used DHL for some shipping in the late 90s, maybe early 2000s and they were great. Reasonable rates too.

If your UPS goes through Jacksonville Fl, don't even bother ordering it....

The "driveway" in this case is over a quarter mile away - and out of direct line of sight.

Captain Helpful everyone! Isn't he great!?!

He'll be here all week.....try the veal, it's delicious!

is that a westie or a Cairn??
Cairn (or Kairn). Sasha is 12 years old at least - she's a rescue.
Pound was about to put her down 11 years ago for "food anger" issues - she had been thrown
out on a backroad somewhere and lived wild the first year of her life, so of course she had
"food anger"!
She picked me when the wife and I went to the shelter.....yes, I said that in the correct order. :)
