That was part of a deliberate test of asymmetrical stability, just to see what would happen in case it occurred by accident.

The Airspeed Ambassador. A British design, built in the 1940s and 50s. It was famous as the aircraft involved in the unfortunate 1958 Munich air disaster which wiped out most of the Manchester United football team. The accident was attributed to slush on the runway which created enough drag to prevent lift-off speed.

Designed as a post-war replacement for the DC-3, it could carry up to 60 passengers and cruise at 300 mph. Oddly, it was available in either pressurized or non-pressurized cabins depending on the operator's preference when ordered.

I remember having a model of that in the early 60s. I don't think the many were built, the Polaris missiles were used instead.
