1966 Plymouth Satellite 426 Hemi 4-Speed

Seems bidding stalled out kind of early on this car that has obviously had considerable money spent on it over the last 20 years. The $125,000 appraisal in 2008 on it seems BS but I guess it’s in Canadian dollars so not sure about the exchange rate back then. It looks like a pretty nice car if not completely original or correct (but how many are?). Maybe the issue of importing it to the US discouraged some bidders.

Importing a car from Canada to U.S. is "Eezy-Peezy", compared to coming the other way. I took my 1964 Polara 500 convertible to Carlisle one year, to display it for sale. Because of red tape and U.S. commercial import laws (I would have to hire a broker), I explained to an interested buyer that he would have to complete the sale up here in Ontario to be legal. The man said it would be no problem, and gave me a deposit on the car. He had to apply for, and receive, a North America Passport, which is good for Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean Islands. The application process for this is simpler than for International Passport. I filled out a couple of U.S. Customs forms pertaining to exemption from safety and emission standards because of the age of the vehicle being imported. I agreed to meet the buyer on the Canadian side of the border with a Notarized Bill of Sale and the signed Ontario ownership slip, in exchange for a certified cheque for the remainder of the sale price. I gave him the two Customs Forms that I had completed. The buyer had to declare the car at U.S. Customs to obtain import papers for it. He paid no duties at the border, and said he was in and out in 15 minutes. When he registered the car in his name in his state, he would have to pay applicable state sales tax.

It's not far away on Vancouver Island, Coombs is a small little town. Never seen this one out and about over my way but have asked my buddy if he has seen it since he lives over that way.

Not sure what the reserve might have been, since it bid to $62,500 and didn't sell, 2 days ago. I'd expect it is high.

I helped a friend purchase a 1958 Fargo Sweptside 313 radio 3 speed big window in 2001. I bought it, had proof of ownership. Garywayne drove up from Ochelata with a 74 Newport, had to put booster leafs on the springs. Because it was a truck we had to put it on a hoist to wash the undercarriage. He went to the border with my transfer of ownership, US Customs spent about 20 minutes clearing him. Met him a few days later at the TDC Meet in Rapid City SD.
Absolutely no problems, there is a different situation when you go over 10,000.00. US

I believe.
A little harder buying one in the US and bringing it to Canada, but not that bad in our experience.

TDC?

For many years Wayne Wooten ran the Dodge Charger Registry. A very dedicated individual. Warner Brothers allowed/ helped him find homes for the Dukes of Hazard cars. There was a publication of what he did, all Chargers.
I really would like to know if anyone has contact information for him. We were on a phone contact and email correspondence.
I have further information about a dealer ordered 1970 Charger RT 440 4speed, apparently
with blue interior. With spoiler in the trunk. Unusual white. I believe it is in Florida.
This car was purchased in a small town in Saskatchewan , about 600 people.

I would like to read why you disagree with my post NODUST. I helped a friend purchase a 69 Barracuda from Oklahoma, picked it up in Minot ND. Took about one half hour to clear both Customs.
We drove down to Austin Tx and picked up a 66 Charger. A slight hiccup on the Canadian side coming back, forgot to mention the money that I sent to pay for the guy to get the title, which I didn’t think was part of the purchase. the guy didn’t have the title when we got there. When we arrived at US Customs, I showed them the bill of sale explained the lack of title. They let us proceed.

I didn’t put an X on your post.

It sometimes happens accidentally as you scroll through the posts. Go back to the post in question. If there is a "REMOVE" button showing, you did hit the "X". Just hit the button, and all is good again.

Been to Canada once. Canadian Customs was a breeze with one question: "Do you have any cigarettes?"

Coming back to the US through the Port of Beaver, the US Customs guys were harsh. Maybe they thought we were trying to smuggle maple syrup or Canadian quarters and it pissed them off.

I’m Canadian and when we visit the USA on the way home the Canadian Custom Agents will ask “do you have any guns?” I say no. They say why not? Then everyone laughs! I don’t even know why that’s funny!
