These deep holes on HP exhaust manifolds require a special long shouldered nut to fasten them to the cylinder head. It looks like a PO did not have this, and devised some other way to do it. The picture is not clear enough for me to figure out what is going on.

Yea I had all bolts but this last one I took this pic with a scope but you can clearly see the nut holding it on. I'm disassembling and cleaning as this car sat for 22 years

Looks like there's a socket head bolt in the hole....

Yeah, I kinda had that thought too. Looked at it again after your post, and agree. Not the right way to do it, but I can see how it could work, if one did not have the correct pieces.

Yea well I'm going to keep the manifolds after watching that dyno clip and I can assure you guys I will have the correct hardware thanks a million

The correct nuts can be bought through Mopar restoration parts places like Year One, Classic Industries, etc. They come in two lengths, depending on application.

Notice it never mentions 400 motor I just got off the phone with Classic and they said they have no listing for a 400 Exhaust Manifold Fastners I orderd MN1501 and going to see if that works.

Umm, 383 & 400 are the same... The bolt kits fit all big blocks, are USA made, proper finish, correct lengths and factory head markings.
