I recently had some batteries go bad in emergency lights I keep in the garage. After recharging one, it wouldn't hold a charge. upon inspection, The battery was slimy & felt hot to the touch. I placed it outside until it cool down. I'm glad I didn't use water.....Be careful with these batteries...

I bought fireproof bags to charge my drill batteries etc. in.
had a friend wake up to a smoke detector, go in the kitchen and found a tiny bit of smoke coming from his drill battery charging on the counter. He grabbed it, threw it out the back door into a snow bank where it promptly ignited and burned white hot for a few minutes.
Lots of videos to watch where people shoot a phone battery.

For all the push for EV people don't seem to understand how lithium works.
Fire needs:
A fuel source
Oxygen
Ignition
For lithium, oxygen IS the ignition. Stored electrical energy is the fuel. Any time you get a two-fer out of those three, it's a bad time.
