From my own experience....it pays to be certain you know exactly where the water is coming from .....it could be through the tail-light fittings, the rear window lower channel, side clips where a vinyl roof moulding clip goes.....it's not always the trunk seal.
 
Get in the trunk with a flashlight and have someone hose it down. Make sure the keys are not in your pocket.
 
^^^From my experience that is truly the best method to see if the trunk seal is leaking. Starting from the bottom edge working you way upwards. Slowly with a small controllable trickle 10-4

...and when installing a trunk seal....do NOT stretch the rubber...allow it to relax as it is laid down on the trunk lip. The rubber will have a small amount of shrinkage, and if it is installed stretched, that shrinkage will allow the rubber to pull away from the lip.
This is most commonly seen on the corners.
