Craziest Accident I ever saw...

Nope. No-prep is flat out stupid.
I’ve always thought that sportsman racing only makes sense because it is relatively safe, actually safer than driving on public roads.
No prep throws that out the window, making it more dangerous intentionally. Eventually it will be shut down.

You sure do type a lot ****. People have an opinion, and yes, just like you do. Unless you were there, or built the car, what you say is an opinion. Seems to me that you’re the KAREN.

I would be happy to explain how things work at a race track if you want to give me a call. I know it is hard to see that viewpoint from behind the keyboard. : D lighten up

I saw what I consider the ultimate no -prep stupidity on you tube.
Big power cars, not enough tire, no crowd control, no guardrails, except the ones they can run into head on, cause they are racing on the WRONG end of a real dragstrip, toward the starting line.
Oops, almost forgot... trees along side, leaves and dirt all over the racing surface.
So I guess the idea is to make it as close as they can to the dangers and stupidity of real street racing. Heaven forbid they actually use a dragstrip, the way its intended.
I value my life and my cars. Thanks, I think I'll pass.......

**** happens, especially to those not prepared or the 'tracks'
too bad looked like a nice car
& he paid the price too

Brent Davis (Jim Davis's son & his old car, former TF Racer) wreck at Freemont,
nostalgia race early 90's
flipped/rolled FE dragster, left him paralyzed from the waist down...
right in front of US at about 1,200ft, he never lifted, got in the grass & rolled
not sure any video of it is out there...
One of the worst I ever saw...

The absolute worst was seeing a friend Bob March Die, also at Freemont
in a S/E 7.90 race, the throttle stuck on his, blown/inj. alcohol BBC R/E drasgter,
dragging the chute, in full open/blossom, going thru/stretching the safety net
still at like 150 (?) & stretched into a Burum of debris, shouldn't be able to reach that stuff
the debris was stacked there from them recently resurfacing the track
car folded after it hit the debris & a rear chassis tube, went thru his helmet & skull
killing him instantly...

This guy below, 'Fat Jack' at Baylands Raceway/Freemont
(Bad *** 46 Ford/Blown Pro-Gas) was a professional builder
experienced long-time racer & had all the necessary equipment
& safety equipment, that money can buy
**** happens, he survived, it was way nastier, then the video below
what you can see

there are other better-detailed & slow-motion videos of it too
I didn't really look to hard

Even hairier yet.

I just don't get the ones that keep on trying to drive a car that's out shape. A buddy of mine got out of the groove and was right up next to the center stripe and had some right wheel in it trying to keep from going over it but stayed in it instead of backing off. The front wheels finally found some bite and went right to the right side wall but he still was trying to drive it. It kissed the right wall with the right front and the then the tail of the car also touched it and immediately headed for the left wall. By then the car had plenty of speed in it (it was running low 9's). Hitting the left side wall totaled the car but at least it stayed against it and didn't bounce back across the track....just about made it to the finish line though.

I enjoy no prep. I also see a lot of streeters with big strokers and no roll bar that get into the secondaries on the street. As soon as a guy has a bad day at the track everyone comes off the bench.

Signed,

Guy that actually races a car : D
I race a car too. I have 2 race cars. My primary has a 25.5 cage and I take full advantage of it.

Worst I ever saw was in the early '80s at a local WI track. A Vega drag car crashed at the top end and landed on it's roof or side, then started on fire. The poor guy couldn't get out. The really regrettable part was that the fire crew was at the starting line, so they had to drive all the way to the other end to get to him. A lot of burning progressed in that amount of time. The guy died a few days later. I heard other than the burns, he wasn't injured, but I can't say for sure. To this day I believe he would have survived if the rescue crew would have been positioned at the top end instead of the starting line.

While we're on the subject of destroying Double Nickel Chevys...

New car, first time out. New to driver. Gets out of the groove, burps the throttle and the throttle sticks. Rough car as they found rust inside the tubing ect.

Exactly. And the primer55 is a perfect example of what NOT to do.
First, his competition with a slower car is nowhere in sight, so theoretically he's won the round.....until.... he crosses the centerline, loses, breaks out, loses again, blips the throttle and gets into it again while completely out of shape, and destroys his car. Only by the grace of God, he didn't lose his life too.
I've seen multiple Great handling street cars with inexperienced drivers crash their cars for no reason, other than trying to save a bad pass, usually at TNT's. (WHY?!?) Spin the tires hard, don't get out of it and stay out, rear-end starts to come around, THEN get out of it, tires hook and it drives straight into the wall. Oops, will my insurance cover this? (Uh, NO!).

Mine is over built for safety #1 prioriy for a street/strip car with a 25.5 cage, 5 point harnesses, full fire suppression system, additional fire extinguisher mounted behind my seat on cage, window net, parachute etc.

I've continued to live by convincing myself that there's no reason to salvage a bad landing.. go around and try it again. Same applies to trying to run a straight line in a car....

I will say….any landing you can walk away from, is a hood landing.

Yep... and I've lived though a few of those. Still punched the **** of the guy that was PIC at the time after crawling out of the wreck!
PIC?
WTF did I just watch?
 most likely was leaning against his door and the door latch was messed up. Seems like GM products were bad about door latches releasing...or not latching.
