Let's See Your Late B-Body

I've always wanted a Magnum GT or a 300 as well. They make a lot of sense these days as an over the road car too. Pretty sure I'll pull the trigger on one in the near future. Back in the day I almost cut a deal on a new Magnum GT and was thinking strongly about a 300. I had just bought a 78 D150 though so I wasn't ready to trade in so soon.
 
Saved this one from the scraper a couple years ago. 318/904 8.25/2.71. just under 100k on her. Only rust thru is underside of the deck lid. Motor was stuck when I got it so I got it un stuck and did a ring/bearing smallest summit cam and some 360 heads with .028" headgaskets. Cast iron spreadbore intake and a 650 AVS2. She will run down the road at 80 all day. I really like the ride.

Thanks. I am second owner. it was my mother in-laws car she bought it new. Been sitting for 35 years and I finally got it back on the road. I'll get some interior pics posted.
 
That is a nice looking Charger. But I'm confused. My dad had a '76 Charger, 400 auto years ago and I remember it having square headlights, dual stacked I think. Every '76 I come across has round headlights like the Cordoba.. Were they ever offered with either type like Dodge did with their trucks back in '79? Or is my memory failing me?
 
No 1976 would have gotten those headlights. The closest would have been a Coronet or Charger Sport, but they still used the single round headlight.

Square stacked headlights came with the Monaco starting in 77, but the Charger was only available in the SE or Daytona that year, both of which used the Cordoba-style body with round headlights. After that, the Charger was gone and replaced by the Magnum in ‘78.
 
Yes! Thank you! I just came across that same picture. Single round headlight with a square bezel. That makes sense, I new it looked different than the ones I see with the Cordoba looking front facia
So what makes these different than the ones I see with the Cordoba (or 1974-75?) looking front with the round headlight, round directional, and different Cordoba) hood? They say they are 1976, are people changing them out?
 
Also, that black '76 is a beautiful car! Is it yours? That is the same exact body I remember about my dad's. His was burnt orange with white interior. It was in excellent condition but cought on fire, and that was that. I still have the wheels for it with original spare. I will probably list them on this site shortly.
 
I'm glad cal30 had that answer. this is the first mopar I've owned, but I've had alot of fun with it and learned alot too. I have gotten some awesome feedback on it from this site. these guys are on here are the best. I'm currently looking for another mopar to work on ( just seeing what's out there) thank you guys

Nice ^^^ no t top on the red one. Most I find have T's. Not a fan of removable tops.
 
At least for Cordobas, T-bar roofs were 10% of the production or less.

Nice Magnum. Tough stance. My dad had a '79 magnum, ugliest car I've ever seen up to that point, Mopar wise. It was a 318/auto with a sunroof, factory I think. It had some rust. It was triple green, not a nice green either, it was like a medium green metallic. It had a matching green vinyl top and interior. He bought it as a winter beater. He paid $275 for it, I was actually surprised that he bought it. It had about 130,000 miles on it and it hat a rod knock. Dad was a true diehard Mopar guy, so am I. The kid that owned it was asking $300, he obviously didn't take care of it.
During the test drive, I said to dad, "Your not actually considering buying this car, it's got a rod knock"!. To my surprise, dad replied "Eh, you've got to have more faith in these old Mopars."
He put 40,000 miles on that car before the old 904 gave up some gears, and that rod knock never got any worse. Trans first lost reverse, then within 2 weeks it lost 3rd, then 2nd. Dad called me & asked me to follow him to the junk yard & give him a ride home. As I was following him hot rodding through town, I thought the trans had quit when he got out and walked to my truck at a stop sign. He asked me if I would like to drive it the rest of the way in. So I got in it one last time. Smoked the tires at some stop lights, power slides at others, just as he was doing. When I got onto the road the junk yard was on I put the petal to the floor, planning to grenade the engine and coast it in. That 318, in first gear, topped out at 55 mph. The dash and everything else, including me, was vibrating, the needle was at 55, the petal was to the floor, my knuckles were white & my eyes were squinting, not sure what was about to happen. There was a guy walking on the side of the road up ahead, he spun around, then ran about 50 feet out into a field and just stood there and watched me drive by, he had to be thinking what I was thinking. But that little, tired 318 handled it just fine. I pulled into the junkyard and let it idle. That faint rod knock was still there, but not any worse! I surrendered it, and they gave us an extra $50 because it was a running engine. I gained "more faith in them old Mopars" that day.
Ah, the memories.
