Shop lift turn police chase results in felony charges

They're probably from California & didn't realize shoplifting is a crime...

Isn't smashing into police cars a crime in California?
I haven't been there in a couple years.

That car they were driving kept going, and going, and going, and going…

Yeah, but if you don't pursue them for the shop lifting the bumper cars routine never happens... See, California's preventing crimes.... Unfortunately that's really how some people think....

I'm getting really tired of this stuff. How much longer until all new cars made have coded kill switches that cops can remotely access? We have the technology. They mandated back up cameras in all cars because of ONE fatality, so why not kill switches?

Kill the car, Let 'em run. Release the dogs. All while finishing your donut.

Yup, Bumping, nudging, pitting a 4000 lb vehicle, taking away what little control these out of control vehicles have is a recipe for injured or killed innocent bystanders... I don't believe in letting them go, but the technology to safely stop chases exists, we need to start using it...

I'm thinking my son should look for a Honda to use in the next Demo Derby.
That thing held up pretty well.

But seriously a good thing no-one got hurt because it easily could have happened.
The guy was driving high speed with a flat tire.
I didn't understand how he could put so much distance between himself and the cruisers so quickly.
That seemed odd to me but I understand they were trying to be cautious.

That's all well and good until your wife or daughter is driving a car in a desolate area and some criminals hack that kill switch.

Life is about going with the odds. I'd bet a substantial amount of dough that the chance of a hood rat on the run harming your loved ones is 1000% higher than that scenario.

Don’t they have something that can be shot at the car to disable the car’s electrical system?

I think they can come up with something.
