Plus, the front seat reclined! Wink, wink! Nudge, nudge! It's a shame that the Rebel didn't look like a sporty car.

With its 255 hp. 327 in a light weight body, at 7 seconds 0-60 the 1957 Rambler Rebel was the quickest sedan you could buy that year. The only car that could beat it was the fuel injected 283 Corvette. The bigger engined Chrysler 300, Lincolns, and Cadillacs could only watch the Rambler get smaller in their front windshield.
The Rambler also had a 288 hp. BendexElectrojector fuel injection option which did beat the Corvette but very few were built due to supplier problems. It was still printed in the sales brochures though.
It would take Chevrolet until 1962 to get their own 327.
Sounds like you need a Grand Cherokee. We love ours!I had two of these, a red 88 and a black 91. They were a lot of fun to drive. I've owned more than a few jeeps and now need a smoother ride!!!

Agreed. My '14 WK2 Grand Cherokee Summit, with the air ride suspension, is like a magic carpet. And, if there's a lot of snow, I can give it a 4" "lift kit" with the push of a button! It's so good in bad weather, it's boring to drive.Sounds like you need a Grand Cherokee. We love ours!
Had rear air bag suspension on my 95 Lincoln Town Car was fine until it crapped out. $500 to convert to spring/shock suspension.Agreed. 100k on the Jeep, no issues so far. Relatively easy to fix, too - ping tanks are behind the back seat, inside, compressor is inside, lines are routed easy to get to/replace. Granted, I treat it right - it has five height settings: enter/exit; aero; normal ride height; off road 1; off road 2. Enter/exit is the lowest, goes there every time you put in park. Aero is 1/2" lower than NRH, goes there at 50mph, or when you put the trans in "sport" mode. I make sure to put it in sport before I pull into a parking lot or a driveway, so it's that much closer to enter/exit. I put it in park and wait till it finishes dropping before I turn off and get out (the pumps shut off when you open a door), that way the pump doesn't run and run and run trying to achieve a height setting with the ignition off. I like to let my turbo vehicles (gas or diesel) idle for a minute before shutdown anyway, to keep oil from coking in a hot turbocharger, so it's a double-win.Had rear air bag suspension on my 95 Lincoln Town Car was fine until it crapped out. $500 to convert to spring/shock suspension.
Had one and loved it, the only jeep I would buy now. I drive a Durango now, longer, three row seating, than a Grand Cherokee and when I go shorter, it will be a Grand Cherokee.Sounds like you need a Grand Cherokee. We love ours!
