How many years have you owned a performance/classic vehicle ?

First mopar in 73. I've had 300 [give or take 20] since. Been a long, fun haul.

I got my first classic car which was my first car in 1999 69 Dart, 2001 2nd car 1965 Dart. Still have them both. So 24 years on the 69 and it’s my biggest pile. Dustin

Close to 50 yrs now. My first Mopar was a 72 Scamp. I heard of a wrecked T/A a few towns away and purchased the entire car. It took less than a week to transplant the 340-6, 727, and 3.91. It was the ultimate sleeper, and I won a lot of late night adventures with it. I've been hooked ever since. I have owned dozens over the years, but my 69 Roadrunner has stayed 31yrs.

1976 brought 1971 dodge charger R/T 440 magnum 4sp , Late 1980’s Had a 1957 corvette fuel injection for 10 years and sold it for down payment on a new house. 2010 retired NYCPD purchased 1967 Plymouth GTX.

36 years and counting. Bought my Satellite in June 1987.

Old GF sitting on the hood of mine in '78 after I bought it from the old man. Hood still Black as I "borrowed it" from a buddy that was working on his Bee at the time before I had the car painted again. He now lives in Australia, still wants another Bee.. his was stolen in Ottawa.

SO years? That equals 45!

LOL, we all sat on our cars! Even the Wife of 41 years and I sat on the hood with our backs on the windshield at the Drive In. The scoops kept me from rolling off the hood after too much Rum !

'70 Charger 383 Magnum 4 spd: 38 yrs
'98 BMW Z3 M Roadster (3.2l I-6): 10 yrs
'04 BMW X5 4.4 liter DOHC: 5 yrs
'20 Charger R/T (5.7l Hemi): 3 yrs

So, I'll go with 56 years.

However, my other cars might have been considered "performance cars" in their day by some people:

'79 Chrysler 300: 43 yrs. (still own)
'84 Shelby Charger: 3 yrs (gone)
'87 Nissan 300ZX: 3 yrs (gone)
'88 Gran Fury Salon cop car: 7 yrs (gone)
Oh snap! Another 56 years

These last four aren't old enough in my book to be considered a "Classic". However, all were fun and enjoyable "back in the day". The '79 Chrysler 300 is the best out of the four with the '88 Fury cop car definitely being an honorable mention. Also, both were very reliable cars.

I bought both my 1964 Dodge Polara hardtop and convertible in 1980. My 1967 Coronet wagon came along in 1984, followed by a 1967 Coronet R/T in 1987. I still own the '64 hardtop (43 years), and the R/T (36 years).
I bought my first performance car when I was still in high school in 1965. This was a TriPower 345 h.p. 389 in a 1959 Pontiac Catalina 2-door post sedan. This WideTrack car was rare almost anywhere, but especially so up here in Ontario, where our Pontacs were mostly Chev. In 1967, I bought a 1962 Dart 2-door post sedan that was formerly a police cruiser. I quickly replaced the tired 313, 3-speed manual with a 383, 4-speed. I sold this to a friend in 1969, and bought a new 383 Super Bee that I kept until 1972. By this time, I was married and needed a sensible family car; a 370 h.p. 455 in a Buick Wildcat! This remains one of the best cars I ever owned.
In 2008, I purchased a very low mileage 2005 Hemi Magnum R/T wagon, that I kept until 2016. This was a very nice hot rod, that I sometimes miss. Double knee replacements made it hard to get into and out of due to its lowness, so I sold it to buy a 2015 Durango.
My very first car was a 1939 Buick coupe that I bought shortly after getting my driver's licence. Along the way, I have also had a 1937 Oldsmobile 8 sedan and a 1938 Packard Super 8 formal sedan. So, I have almost always had something collectible or high performance pretty well since I started driving.

68RR bought in 1969 to drive back/forth to college (ASU): 4yrs
70RR bought in 1985: 6yrs
70RR vert bought in 1991: 32yrs

42yrs total. Sprinkled in there is a 1970 LT-1 Vette (5yrs) and 1973 Vette (8yrs), not Mopars but fun cars.

The usual crap cars of teenage years, but I'll start my own clock on this topic with the '68 Chevelle I eventually
traded up to - a nice one, too. Traded it quickly off for the first of more '68 Super Bees to come....
So, 1979 for me. What, like 44 years now I guess?

I'll start my own clock on this topic with the '68 Chevelle

me too...... with a SS hood, 350 4 speed, and a 12 bolt........ and a Cal Custom "foot" gas pedal

about 2 years later I swapped everything cool into a 69 body........it had a "I brake for Pacman" bumper sticker. I never played, the chicks dug it :D

My one and only. Literally the very first car I ever owned. Bought in 71’ for $1,100. Still have the scratched up paper receipt notarized late at night in November after taking her out for a test drive and coming back with my tidy whities loaded up from getting the **** scared out of me by this beast. Sealed the deal - sold her to a friend back in my hometown just a few years ago after 48 years behind the wheel. That car was the love of my life until I met my present wife. Where I live was one of the primary issues. Just no longer set-up to fully enjoy so I decided it was time. No regrets - Sometimes in life you just have to turn the page.
