Members here from all walks of life, from all different areas over the globe. Yet, have a common interest for performance/classic cars, Mopars in particular. I myself go back to when these cars were nothing more than new/used cars at the time, not yet "classic" cars. With that said, I've owned at least one performance/classic car 52 years. So here's my question: HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU PERSONALLY OWNED A PERFORMANCE/CLASSIC CAR ? Not necessarily just Mopars, any model that would fit the description, no matter what brand. And even if there was a gap, say 8 years back in the day, plus 11 years again until now, would make that 19 years total. What's your number ?

I ordered a 71 Cuda, back in 71, and kept it for 43 years, before i sold it.
The 71 Hemi GTX 4 Speed car, i had that for 28 years.

Bought a 1967 Cougar 390 auto in the summer of 1976,,, that car was a burnout king. I was 16 or maybe 17
Bought my 1st HP Mopar the summer of 1977. A 1969 Roadrunner 383 auto. and other than a time between 2004 ish and Oct 2020 Running my own shop and raising 2 kids meant no cars of my own for a while

Ive owned just about anything Mopar had to offer. From 2 wing cars , 2 GTX convertibles. a couple other hemi cars, an A 12 roadrunner, multiples of both A and B bodies in both hardtop and drop top form, a couple E bodies,,,, etc etc.

Currently own a 1966 Satellite , hemi auto. and its going nowhere while Im alive.
Deep down I have a desire for another B body convertible. But may,,, or may not scratch that itch. So, time will tell.

I just turned 64 a month ago

I bought my '66 Coronet 500 in April 1980, so that makes 43 years for that one.

Since I just turned 15 in the summer of 1974, (edited; so 49+ years)
my 1st 68 Charger R/T from a 'hot divorced lady' down the street
a former Contra Costa County Sherriff owned/drove it originally,
His wife didn't want to deal with it, she gave me a storming deal...
I got it for $350, it needed a trans service & the tires were bald,
the second gear band was way out of adjustment...
The trans-fluid was fried...
But, I was a happy as you can imagine...
$150 later I was driving it, owned it until 1989, many different renditions
and later sold it to my cousin Joe, he totaled it within 2 weeks...
I saved all my pennies, to buy it, working at Paul Petterson Shell
at $1.65 an hr min. wage, all winter & spring...

Old GF sitting on the hood of mine in '78 after I bought it from the old man. Hood still Black as I "borrowed it" from a buddy that was working on his Bee at the time before I had the car painted again. He now lives in Australia, still wants another Bee.. his was stolen in Ottawa.

SO years? That equals 45!

I'm 49 years old(not for long though lol).

I've owned (33) cars in my lifetime so far but only a few would be considered classic or performance IMO..
- 1959 Ranch Wagon (first car at 16)
- 1965 Montclair
- 1968 F100
- 1994 Mustang Cobra

The brakes got put on at that point for classic/performance vehicles until 2020 when I was able to financially jump back in.
At that point I was able to acquire what I have now over the last few years
- 1955 Belair
- 1969 Roadrunner
- 1970 Nova
- 1971 Duster

Estimated a total of 17 years owning them all.

Edit: Just checked my car count again. (32) not (33).

I bought my charger in1988.
Just drove it to work today.

I started racing this Barracuda in around 1975 or so, and had 6 more Barracudas and now a Charger, with never more than a short gap in between.

35 Years total. '73 Firebird in '87, '68 GTO in "88 and bought my R/T in '90. Still have it. 40 years if you count the '70 Duster that I had in '82 when I didn't even have a drivers license yet. I'm 55.

I like that photo....cool sense of humour.

I bought my first one back in 1984.... 1969 Dodge Charger 383/727. Then a 1970 Road Runner modded with a 440+4/833.....a short break in between while on my OE in the UK, and back into the 1970 GTX 440+4/727 modded to 833. Then I bought the A100 before I sold the GTX.....so a total of 34 years really for me. The V8 powered Range Rover we had in the UK doesn't really count...even though it was a Buick engine. :p
