In the hospital at 12:30pm out@ 7:00.

Surgeon did a cadaver bone graft to repair the damage done from my loose implant.

At least he didn't use JB Weld...

Sore but still alive.

That doesn't look like fun. Be sure to do all of the therapy & stretching that they tell you to do.

BTW, did you get the deluxe model with a zerk fitting?

good luck........ both my shoulders are high milage and somewhat limited....... just like my knees

Congratulations on your operation going well. I hope you have a speedy recovery. When my doctor told me that I could not lift anything heavy, I told my wife that she was going to have to help me in the bathroom. She laughed.

#3 you've had this 2 times before ?

poor bastard, I mean that in the most polite way

:drinks: here's to a full & speedy recovery
have fun in rehab

X2, the physical therapy and following their instructions are a measure of your recovery time. Putting in a zipper for future work is a great idea.......... Hoping for the best!

God love ya man, that crap scares me - even with all the surgeries and such I've had, I dread the
rotator cuff stuff that i've supposed to have gotten for years now (my right shoulder is so bad it just
pops out of socket when it feels like it).
Why? Because I watched my dad go through that with both his shoulders and it was agonizing.

I only saw my dad cry twice in my life (he being typical old school tough and all) - when my little
brother died and after his shoulder surgery.
I pretty much vowed I'd never go through it after that....
All the cancers and surgeries and that aside, those shoulders actually scare me.

Yep..

1 right side was done1 /10/10.

They did a cadaver bone graft to repair the damage the loose implant did to my shoulder. I am going to write a thank you letter to the donors family.

Today's surgery is far advanced from just 10 years ago .

I'm really sore because of the bone graft. When this plant was done in 2010 I had a nerve block going right into a vein in my neck. Zero pain for four days then just enough to need some Tylenol.

The next two haven't been quite as good but the nerve block this surgeon uses isn't as advanced. They screwed around for 20 minutes trying to get the needle into the nerve in my neck...they gave up so I don't have a block in this operation.

I probably have that in my future given the condition of my shoulder and my Dad's history. It does not look like fun time. Get well soon. Hopefully there is no #4. "Three times is the charm?".

Just an update...

This bone graft has been painful. More pain than the other two replacements I have had.

I always heard bone pain is bad, had it in my knees before they were replaced, but this is relentless. Just won't give up.

Last Wednesday I took a ride to the ER since I was in so much pain my oxycodone just wasn't working.

I got some morphine that really helped and went home after two hours. Things are better.

Made my 5 day visit to have my zipper strip removed. I was glad to get that itchy thing off.

The implant I have in my arm goes from my shoulder almost all the way to my elbow.
My surgeon let me know that this is the final shoulder repair I can have. No replacing this.

So I have decided to retire from my 52 year trucking career. Just not worth screwing up that new implant dragging my fat *** into those trucks 50+ times per day.

Kinda funny my first pt driving job in 1972 was in a Mack day cab as was my last day in the job. Didn't drive Macks very often over the years but I have this last 5 months with this new job.

So it goes... here's my last ride.

Good luck on all accounts, hope it feels better
& quitting driving trucks/retiring goes well

I hung it up last year after 42 years in the tank truck industry (I drove for 25, owner operator last 16.) Not an easy decision. You had a great run, I think you did the right thing.
