Hi,

I STILL haven't forgotten about doing this. I have had a few challenges, the last of which is that my retina in my left eye almost fully detached. I had to have emergency surgery and I still have at least a month or two before my eye is (mostly/ hopefully) back to normal. Surgery was last month, and I had to spend a week face down, 24/7, to allow a gas bubble to help heal the back of my eye.

So I have to postpone (again - sorry) until later - maybe August, September or October. I have to see how my eye is healing.
Anyway, I am thinking the tour will be a 3 day affair over a long weekend. Pennsylvania, New York and maybe Ohio are the three key states, but we could also head up towards the NE states as well. What I am working on are three cool things to do/ see after each day's drive.

Apologies for the delays :(

Heal up Hawk. Thanks for checking in. And please keep us posted on how you’re doing. The Power Tour can wait. Your health comes first!

That sounds like fun, too bad it's so far away...

I hope you heal fully & have a speedy recovery...
Heal up, get well, the cars, roads & hotels/campsites, destinations whatever,
will be there still...

I will follow along 'from afar', if & when it happens...

My buddy had the same issue. I remember the whole face down bubble thing. If you are not up to Carlisle, just let us know what to do.

And here I've been feeling sorry for myself because of a prolonged respiratory virus thing.
Certainly praying for your complete recovery.
I'll give the trip planning some thought hopefully I can contribute.
September is my favourite weather month.

I WILL be at Carlisle. I have a buddy of mine driving my Road Runner for the show, and the guy who bought my 73 will be there too with his (my old) 73 too. One way or another, I will drag myself there and not miss it.

Seriously, by then, my left eye should hopefully be healing. I'll likely need a corrective lens for it, since they were digging in my eye and it likely won't ever be quite the same. I might not have the new lens yet, but my right eye should hopefully keep me in the game!

I WILL be at Carlisle.

If you have a patch on your eye, be sure to dress the part for us.

Have you forgotten how hot it is Carlisle?
That wool coat is not gonna work.
You trying to kill the poor guy?

At you going to be to pull this off this year. I may be interested. With cooling temps around the corner…..

Looks Like I have an appointment to plan for cataract surgery early October, and then my guess is the cataract surgery will be November.
Sorry, but I'm going to push the tour until spring so I can (hopefully) see well and can enjoy the trip more.

Ok. Hope your surgery goes well.

Hi folks,

I appreciate everyone's patience with me as I have been dealing with various setbacks organizing this. I think my eye situation is at least stable now. I will be getting another cataract surgery in April but my eyes are generally OK and ready for a drive!

I plan to do this tour some time in May, but final dates need to be determined based on a few schedules. So this is not yet set in stone.
Here is a recommended and preliminary tour. I realize this is in a part of the country that many cannot get to, but I have to start small and just go with whatever happens.
Day 0: Meetup day - Thursday
We will meet in Watkins Glen Racetrack on a Thursday. Watkins Glen does have some ability to drive the track, so I will be looking into driving our cars around the track for those that can get there early enough. We will stay in the Watkins Glen area for the night (Hotel/ Motel not yet determined).

Day 1: Drive to Packard - Friday
After breakfast, we will drive from our hotel to the Packard Museum in Warren, Ohio. Overall, plans are for about 4 hours of driving every day and the rest of the day to relax and enjoy some sights. On this day, we will check out the Packard Museum in the afternoon. Then time for dinner and we will stay locally (Hotel/ Motel not yet determined).

Day 2: Dyno Thrash! - Saturday
On this day, we will drive to member @Nxcoupe place in Red Lion, Ohio. I will leave extra early and the goal will be to thrash my car on the dyno and see if we can tune a few more HP into it. No BS horsepower claims will be possible for me here! Tour members will be part of the audience and will also have the ability to put their cars on the dyno for a fee (time permitting). We will stay locally (Hotel/ Motel/ accommodations not yet determined).

Day 3: Some Architecture - Sunday
We will tour to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater cabin house in Mill Run, PA, after again, about a 4 hour drive. There is also a nice overlook called Paradise Overlook that we may have time to check out. We will stay locally (Hotel/ Motel not yet determined).

Day 4: More cars! - Monday
We will drive East and end our tour in Morgantown, PA at a place called the Classic Auto Mall. This is a converted shopping mall where the entire facility is set up for displaying classic cars for sale as well as storing them for customers. We will tour the classic auto mall, have dinner and close the tour after dinner.

Rules: I will post more detailed "rules" later, but in general, I am not a formal tour operator, and anyone joining us pays for themselves and does this trip at their own risk. There is no charge to join this tour from my perspective - it is just a bunch of friends getting together for a drive.
Cars: Of course a Mopar is preferred, but I will open this to any classic car of any make, as well as "cool" modern day cars (e.g. a late model Challenger). Please, no minivans!

The hope is that with a long weekend a few of you will be able to make it. Please let me know below if you may have interest. I realize dates are not firmly set yet, but at least I would like to start getting a few serious "maybes"!

Sounds Good Hawk. Glad you are doing better and Thanks for putting this together! Haven't woke the car up from it's winter nap but plan to this week. I'm a definite "Maybe". Will pass on to my MoPar buds.

Hawk, glad to hear your doing better. Wish I could join the cruise. But little to far from me right now.

Awesome - we'd love to have you if you can make it!

WHAT?!?! Are you afraid of you car getting just a little wet driving it here??? (hee hee  )

We MAY, as in MIGHT, see if we can arrange ride-a-longs for some folks who can't drive their cars for some reason. Too early to tell, we need a better understanding of confirmed cars before we do that.

Great Itinerary! Origin in Allentown, but did not get to that area often. Went to Running Water-in the 80’s. I’d have to cheat with the modern Mopar. Tentative. We have led some tours out West. Not an easy task. Don’t get into the weeds with lodging etc, beyond a mere suggestion.
