In the early 80s a friend of mine stopped by my house with a car exactly like this. He had been left a quarter section of land by his grandpa and whenever he found a car like this, he would sell however many acres it took to buy it. It was in the early 80s, the car had 20,000 original miles and he paid $2500 for it. His family disapproved that he sold 10 acres of land to get the car. It was good land with artesian wells, and they grow Forestberg melons there. Today that same land can be bought for $1,000 per acre. If this is his car, or if you're on here, hi John. His daily driver was a 67 R/T

That last pic is daunting. How long is your driveway?

1200 feet and then all the area in front of the shop and hangar and my Son's house next door. Been living in the plow truck since last Friday... up to about 51" of snow in a week. It was a Great f'n idea when I was 30 !

Just curious what would be different between a catalina chassis and an impala chassis?

...or 88 chassis or lesabre chassis.
Depends on the year, they started to standardize in the 70s. But in the 1960s and before, Pontiac and Chevrolet had different frames with different suspensions and mounting points, wider track and longer wheelbases for Pontiac. That's why full sized Canadian Pontiacs, built on Chevy frames, had different floor pans and trunk floor shapes than American Pontiacs of the same year. Different quarter panels too, although they looked very similar.

Here is a shot of Grand Bend, Ontario, in the summer of 1969. Coincidently, that is me in my new SuperBee, first up at the traffic light, turning left to go to Grand Bend Dragstrip. How cool is that?
True to form, I have a Holstein (black and white O.P.P. cruiser) behind me.

That 68 Monaco 500 is a twin to my 440 mag 18 spline Dana car

What a shame. I talked with the owner and it is an original 999 factory painted car.
Maybe just having a nice conversation with him about how to store it would help. Inform him that the car sitting unprotected on dirt will very quickly rust and destroy the value of the car. Maybe even offer to help move the car to a better parking spot. After all that, give him your number and let him know if he wants to sell it (or needs help), he can call you. Sometimes things like this pan out!
Looks like a neat car!

Although most Hurst/Olds cars were based on the Cutlass, for 1974 when the H/O 442 was the Indy Pace Car that year, they also made up 42 Delta 88 H/O convertibles for festival duties at Indy. Other unique cars that year were a four door Cutlass H/O built for the president of Indy, and a six H/O Custom Cruiser station wagons for the press to use.
