Tesla doesn't usually advertise itself as a sports car. Even so, the Model S Plaid has managed 1.08 G on the skid pad, better than a lot of Corvettes, and has done the Nürburgring lap in 7:35 seconds, quicker than a Hellcat Charger.

I have no idea why the EV Charger weighs in at 5,800 pounds, since the Tesla Plaid is 4,828 pounds despite having three motors and 1020 hp.
We have to take with a grain of salt any claims made by Musk. He is a serial liar who threatens any who question him, including the FBI.
Nürburgring has an issue with the accuracy of times posted by car makers and how they ran the course. That makes comparisons hard to dissect. The Plaid S "production car" was said to be highly modified and setting on race rubber, unlike the Porsche it outran. One car maker sped up the on-board camera to fake a faster time.
Car and Driver's confusing depiction of how they got that skid pad number is bizarre. It can't be easy to test a car whose owner might buy you out, fire everybody, and replace you with "better" staff.
