That sure looks like a Bluebird school bus chassis.
I thought the same thing. The best part is, you could buy one that runs great with a beat up interior, you wouldn't need that part of it anyway.

It's funny how a one of one car back then could be something as simple as a wagon with a four speed. I like the wagon.
The dad of a friend in Sundance bought a new '68 Kingswood wagon with a 427/ 4 speed. He was a hotrodder who built repairable muscle cars. They went to a church in Spearfish and he needed a wagon for his 10 kids. I guess every Sunday they made the trip on a two lane blacktop at 100mph. In high school, his dad put a W30 motor in a blown up GTO for my buddy Fred to drive. That car rocked.

They say the 421 Tempests shined when track conditions were sketchy. The weight of the trans/axles helped them hook.

Wagons have great weight transfer. 4' of car - to the roof! - behind the rear axle! My '72 Satellite wagon ran dead-consistent 1.60 60' times. All. Day. Long. 265 street tires, 3.23 SG, no trans brake or line lock. Stall the converter (2400), count the tree, left foot off the brake, mat the gas, and she'd just squat and GO.

Those special four speed automatics with the converter swapped out for a clutch in those cars were interesting too. They kept the rope driveshaft.

The engine and transmission are worth a few bucks today all by themselves. That's a sweet way to kill two birds with one stone. Thanks for sharing!!
