Went to pick up my new to me coronet but it won't start. No spark from didtrubutor. It has an msd box and a coil so figuring that was the problem,to get it started I vbought a pertronix kit .
When I went to install it my distributor has a chopper wheel instead of a cam.
Could it be a factory electronic ignition distrubutor?
I will be replacing it anyway with a mallory dual point anyway.

Sounds like an electronic dist. Going to a dual point, single point.....or ten point dist....is a backwards move.

So,how do I know which distributor I have? I'd like to go to pertronix but need to tell them what it is.
Easiest thing to do is post some pictures of it. Obviously there must not be any tags or logos on it.

Not sure what all is going on here
When it wouldn't start after stalling,I checked for fuel at the carb. Plenty.
It has a msd box and coil but not spark so I thought I would eliminate all that and just go with a pertronix kit..I purchased what was supposed to be for my 68 440 but my vacuum advance won't connect to it and it has a chopper wheel instead of a cam so I am trying to figure out what distributor I have in order to get the right kit. The one they sold me is the wrong one.

Ok the orange and black wires say it's a stock chrysler electronic distributor.

A top view picture sure might help?

You should be able to get this to work with the MSD.
But a vacuum advance would be helpful.

Thats a mopar distributor. The gap needs to be correct and the vacuum advance is needed to position the pickup unit correctly.

Did you do any voltage tests at all on the previous ignition? You'll have the exact same issues with the new system if you had no voltage. Damn gasoline engines!!!

No,I had no test tools with me,just basic. I have it home now I can do the testing. I just am not at all that familiar with mopar electronics but I had installed a pertronix in my 66 nova.
The kit I was sold,I discovered is for a dual point distributor and of course, mine is an electronic one.
