CLUTCH PEDAL OVERCENTER RETURN SPRING

Hook it on the nose of a trolley jack between the front wheel shaft and the lift pad. Pump it up and put springs between the coils. Install spring and push pedal down and the washers fall out.
That's a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure how many people will see this post but I'd like to share my experience with the OverCenter spring removal. I tried everyone's method but nothing worked. Here's how I got mine out. 1. have the clutch pedal all the way up. 2. insert washers between the coils 3. remove the pedal rod that goes through the firewall and CAREFULLY allow the pedal to pull itself all the way to the floor. 4. with a mini pry bar and a heavy duty flat blade screwdriver pry the hook off the pin.

I'm not saying that my way IS the right way but my way took all of 5 minutes.

Hopefully this will help someone out there.

Thank you FBBO.

There is another way to install or remove the spring, but requires removing the clutch/brake frame assembly. It's hard to explain here, but you slide the clutch pedal/shaft out, easy to hook the spring. The hard part is holding the whole thing down, pulling the pedal up and then knock the clutch pedal/shaft back into place.

Lots of advice on removal (which was very helpful) but here is a helpful tip for re-installing it if need be:

Insert washers, lower the jack and then install on pedal.
