I know this is a mopar site, but gear heads are gear heads. Cars are to be loved and enjoyed regardless of make or model. You're right, I also learn something new everyday. Thank you!Learn something new every day!
had one of those as a kid! Still can 'smell' that chapstick-like goo you rolled over the print to 'set ' it. Actually took pretty good photos.
I was big into 35 mm cameras, to me those days are history right along with this technology.had one of those as a kid! Still can 'smell' that chapstick-like goo you rolled over the print to 'set ' it. Actually took pretty good photos.![]()
As a decidedly NON technology kind of guy, I would LOVE to have another one of those cameras personally, if you could get the film. Instant [almost] gratification and such ya know... But they really did take good photos; I have a bunch in a little photo album and they are still crisp and clear [considering] and havent delaminated or anything. I was 8 or 9 when I received that as a gift from my Godmother and enjoyed it as long as the film pack she gave me lasted. When it came time for ME to have to buy the [relatively] expensive film, it fell into disuse as that limited money was better spent [to my mind at that time] on Matchboxes, Hot Wheels and car magazines! Shoulda bought the film...I was big into 35 mm cameras, to me those days are history right along with this technology.
My father-in-law has a real 1962 Bubble top Bel Air Z11 409 car that he still races. He runs it in nostalgia races and it runs in the low 10s. It was owned at one time by Reggie Jackson and it was also in a museum for a bit. The bumpers are acid dipped and lightened. The aluminum front end was taken off and replaced before he got it. Years ago, he was offered an aluminum front end for $39,000 (yes, a hood and two fenders). He had to decline - too much money!
When I bought my new SuperBee in 1969 for $3650, the St. Thomas, Ontario dealer also had a low mileage 1967 Hemi, 4-speed Charger on the lot for $3500. The salesman was trying to steer me to it, but with my Dad as a co-signer on the bank loan, I knew this would be a no-go.. He was pi$$ed enough about the 383 SuperBee! I was more concerned about $3500 no warranty car, versus full warranty on new $3650 SuperBee. But, in hindsight,......Can you imagine all the cars we walked by all those years ago!! More stories...
That garage space look's a little small for that Cadillac.

The "409" W motor in my father-in-law's Z11 is stroked to more than 427 (I forget the actual displacement). However, it is not the original engine that came with the car - that engine is long lost to history, so I don't actually know if his car came with a stroked 409 engine in 1962.Was the Z11 actually a 427 c.i.
