I bought a temperature sending unit off of eBay and it certainly looked like the same one in my Charger. I went to install it and it was just a tad bit too wide. Im talking about maybe a 1/32". Anyone know what part # I should try for a 67 Charger with a 383?

Good advice. I just bought a trio of OE sensors from a member here after four newer ones either didn't work, or failed, in three years. When I drove old Mopars as transportation in earlier years, I never had one go bad.

Good sender at about 68F should show 320 to 380 ohms.

I recommend the Standard Motor Products TS-17 or the TS-17A (I have this one). After going through multiple senders from Rock Auto that read incorrectly on the stock dash gauge, and doing some deep online sleuthing, I found this one seemed to work for people, and figured I got nothing to lose. Indeed it works correctly and my Auto Meter gauge agrees. Can be had on Amazon cheap, or maybe your local retailer.

During my engine compartment refurb I had 2 Standard Motor Products temp senders that would barely register on the factory gauge, both were out of factory spec. I listened to Wayne's advice and sought out an NOS sender.
When these photos were taken the ambient temp was somewhere in the mid-80's F.

Yes your bottom photo is where my stock gauge sits when the Auto Meter is at the T-Stat's 180 degrees. Your SMP sender was likely for some other vehicle.
No, I don’t recall the pn# but it was the correct one…
Can these be tested with a multimeter?
The one I bought had the last four numbers 1010. I did see it on Rock Auto, so I think I will try one that was mentioned on this forum that sells on Amazon.

Gauge or light? It makes a difference. Let me look in my Filko catalog for a number.
Guage, its for a 67 Charger.
Dang, sorry, My 2 catalogs have a gap One stops at 65 and the other one starts at 70. Hoppy has catalogs for most manufacturers though.
@mobile parts has some good replacements for them. Mine are packed for Carlisle
