Not f-en likely! AMX, yes. Bet on a 390. (Note crossram aircleaners!). Pretty sure a 290 was standard equipment. Are you thinking gremlin?
Sorry....had the wrong engine......AMX used a 343? or 401? Gremlins used AMCs 199 or 232 or 258 online six????? I'm not versed on AMC running gear.....some used the Chrysler TF 904 or TF 727A.....not sure what year.......

AMX used a 290, 343, or 390 originally, Later years used a 360 and
401, as did Javelin. Sc360 Hornet was a beast.
Late model Gremlins also got 304s, and an AMC dealer in Az sold gremlins with 390s and 401s. Kinda like Mr Norms, and Yenco.
Aluminum blocks and heads, and stroker cranks are available for AMC lovers.
(I would love to have a Scrambler)
