The "Ooh and Ahh" factor of multiple carbs still is a thing.
I'd say 3x2 is rarer than 2x4bbl setups.
From a performance standpoint, the Mopar factory setup is the best or at the top of the heap of 3x2 factory intake+carb mix, IMO.
I don't know much about the intake manifold on the Chevy 427 that also has the 3x2 Holley carbs, but I assume it's a dual plane. I'd really like anyone who knows about the 427 'Vette Holley 3x2 carb intake manifold to share what they know.
I had a good friend in the late 70s who I've stayed in touch with that had the 3x2 427 in a 67 Vette 4 speed. Factory sidepipes.
So he took me for a ride on a street in New Orleans East where we lived and this particular street was concrete and had excellent traction.
He had factory size and style tires on the slotted steel wheels so many Vettes had, and he matted the gas from a dead stop. I could hear a high-pitched squealing sound I couldn't identify over the roar of the sidepipes and the rush of air into that triangular foam air cleaner that lasted through 2nd gear. I thought it was something rubbing like the driveshaft because of the high-frequency sound. He said it was the tires and I doubted that because of the posi rear, high grip surface, and the length of time.
He hooked a U-Turn, and this time he hit the gas from a 30 mph roll...no squealing sound and I saw the twin black stripes on the concrete with a short gap from the 1st to 2nd gear change.
