So I have a 1968 Dodge Charger. I am 24 Years old and not very well experienced however I am usually able to figure out most my problems. I have a few things left on my original Charger. My Tic Tok Tac has not worked since I bought my car however when I switch the headlight switch half way the Clock arm does move slightly so I am suspicious if I have power. The Tac side has never worked and I am not even sure where I would start or if its unplugged or just broken? Most my gauges are faded yellow but the Tac is actually white which makes me believe it was replaced at one point but it doesn't work. What would be the best way to test or figure out to see if its hooked up or if it might just be broken? I am not sure what I would be looking for underneath or if I need to remove the dash cover plate to get to the tac. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As a side note all my other gauges work my speedometer is not accurate as I believe I need a new speedometer cable. otherwise this Tac has me stumped. Thank you.

Are you sure you have the tic-toc-tac.....or just the tic-toc clock? Many mistake the clock for the tach. Post a pic if you can.

I was hoping you had the Tic Toc Tach because I have one in my '70 Charger and it hasn't worked since I bought it back in 1986.

Looks like I am wrong is there still a way to fix this clock?
Yes but very lengthy to talk about here lol but there is a grey wire connector underneath the dash that might be unplugged or the contact points inside might need a lite filing because they may be burned or pitted

Hey Cole, there is some steps on that as well. Assuming screwed in good ( that’s the ground ) and power wire (spade connected) and coil feed wire hooked up ( round stud ) they rarely go bad. Can DM me if you want so it doesn’t get lengthy here if you want along with original poster in his clock. I’ve played with several of these units in the day

Hopefully this gives some in sight have you bought a new one and tried that?
Nope, but if that was in the budget, it would almost certainly fix the problem! Way too expensive...someday I'll open up the dash gauge panel and inspect all the wiring, but my car just has so much more to work on first. I first have to sort out the front brakes and get it running this summer.

Will do, I appreciate it!

I hear you, it’s about priorities but most likely just a wire power or tach feed. Those tachs I have rarely ever went bad and clocks needed point filing

They can be repaired to new modern quarts movement. There are kits available. Check Ebay and other places. Or, there are others offering the resto/repair service.

Yes and a member here does quartz updates and tach board updates for electronic ignitions. RTE sells those boards and step by step instructions

Contact points that are connected to the clock? Is there a step or video that shows how to remove the tach/clocks?

Points inside hence the ticking movement. Small screw driver to remove the knob for setting arms and under dash where it mounts to gauge cluster (3) Philips screws

Is there a way to test my clock or possible clean the connection without pulling the entire gauge out? Can I get underneath the dash and reach it?

You can test it, but if it's like many others, you'll find the solenoid coil burnt up.....and they are not easy to get repaired.

Quartz movement replacement is the way forward.

I think at that pint I will eventually just replace it with a tic tok tac instead but who knows I am just curious if I can get under the dash and unplug it clean the connectors and try that.

I have the same non-tach clock in my unrestored '70 Charger, and like yours it is whiter than the other gauges. I have no reason to believe mine was replaced but maybe it was at some point, but it also doesn't work. The tach units are crazy expensive, so I just put a Sun SuperTach II over the front of my console.
