Getting ready to paint the bottom, inside ,trunk on the RR.

For this area I normally use the Omni brand. On this color they do not have a mixing formula and the color machine is way off.

Any other paint lines comes out to over $1.500 a Gallon. Has any one used different car line for this color? Or paint brand that's under $700 a gallon?

Ford 5T M5145A
GM S/932/311

These Just say "Saddle Bronze"

Any suggestion would be great. :thankyou:

@mopar4don is painting his Charger that color. I can't remember what brand of paint he is using, but what he sprayed so far looked nice. Maybe he wil chime in.

The color is separate and totally independent of quality.
I strongly discourage the use of omni.
The number of hrs and money in other materials, sheet metal, blasting, personal protection and pride for my ride, would make me spend more for real paint.
On the low end, I would use Matrix.
I have reached out to Jimbo. And I don't even know him!

Doesn’t PPG still offer their Concept line, such as their DCC product?

To my knowledge, no ppg single stage.
My store has no mixing bank for metallic colors. There was some fleet solid color for a while, but I had to buy Matrix for single stage black.

base the bottom with something cheap/close, and dust a coat of the actual color over it; then clear......

I've done undersides various ways, and they're all works of art......... after the car is down and assembled, nobody ever looks

So far this is what I came up with:

Ford M5145A 1974
GM S/932/WA311 1963-65
Pontiac Diz code 22162
Mercury 5T UCNCXXA

Like I said I would like to use the Omni line for the underside and trunk to keep the cost down, and I have un-opened hardener and reducer.

The ONLY paint supplier in my area is Wesco. Funny that I can get in PPG but not Omni that is also a product of PPG?

I will also be doing the trunk and engine area so it needs to be the correct color.

I get that, I buy at least 2 gallons of base for these jobs........ often, I can mix up some old base as a ground coat

Wanda by Akzo Nobel (Lesenol, Sikkens) is good stuff and lower priced

460 / gallon for the 1967 881 bright blue within the last 2 years....... Hemi Orange was closer to 600

I used Wanda on my RR and it worked great. The bottom of the package tray inside the trunk was my favorite part. Well you are on a rotisserie so not as bad as laying on your back inside the trunk

Have you checked into the PPG Deltron series? It's quite expensive, but I have found that the the colors are more vibrant and a better match to OEM than other brands.

@jimbosride your in luck.
A formula for T7 in base coat. Have not found one for single stage yet.
I checked the formula for ford 5T, and it is the same name, but different in metallic size and toners.
Next, i'll mix a pint and see how it looks to the color chip.

I looked at your gm 932 code.
It is nowhere close. It is a better match for 65 dodge gold tan metallic that was so common.
Color runs in popularity, and changes with time. As the 70's moved on the metallic got bigger, colors became "colder".
And next to no formulas in urethane or base for 25 year old cars, when urethane and basecoat was introduced in the 80's.

Car looks great. I don't see any Wanda dealers for retail in my state (WA) Where did you get your paint?

I used PPG Shopline JAU single stage.
Let me know if you want to know more, I would have to find the can.

That exactly what I'm looking for. If you could find the can snap a picture of the label. Do you remember what you paid for it? Gal? Where did you buy it at?

Thanks
