295/65/15 Fitment

This is my car with 295/65/15 MT tires on 10" wide centerlines.

Backspacing on rim?
I can't remember exactly what the backspacing is so I looked on Summits website and it is showing one rim having 4.87 inches and another rim at 3.31 inches. If I had to guess I have the rims with the 4.87 backspace.

Take a quick look at your rear springs. If your tires aren't within about a quarter inch away from them, you've got the 3 5/16 version. My 'lines with the 4 7/8 backspace need a .300-.350 spacer to get the tires off the springs.

I have a 1 inch gap between my tires and leaf springs.

MT also makes a 295 55 15 tire and that is what I use. It's 28" tall, so same height as a 275 60 15. I was running them on 15x8 and recently switched to a 15x10.

The beige long roof in this photo has a rear tire size of 295-70-15 and it's a BFG radial tire.
I should have taken a photo from the backside but didn't....sorry.

So i finally managed to try some wheels i have on the Charger so please can I get people’s opinions on whether you think the 295/65’s will fit or not ?

So in the pics these are 15 x 8 Centerlines with 5” backspace and 275/60/15’s

Ideally I will be using these wheels
Width wise I have quite a lot of clearance and good clearance on the top section of the tire where it goes towards the inner arch and the Charger “bulge”

But the only bit that worries me is the gap between the front of the rear tire and the rear quarter, see first pic
I was struggling to get an accurate measurement but I think it’s about 1.5” , possibly a little bit more

So I think when the 295/65 is fitted its going to be about 1/2” gap because they have an extra 1” sidewall compared to these 275’s
I will try again at the weekend with some vernier callipers I have to get a more accurate measurement of that gap

I know the 275’s are a popular choice for many but they still look too small to me in the Charger arch , and I don’t like 295/50’s either because they are too short and not much sidewall so 295/65 is the kind of look I like

295/60 would probably be a perfect size but it doesn’t look like anyone makes those
I did consider 255/70 as it has the larger sidewall what I like but they are narrower obviously than the 275’s

Thanks for any advice

Some pics below and a quick video in the link……

A 295/50x15 will be (approximately) one inch wider, and one inch shorter. Clearance at the front edge should improve, a half inch less room from tire to spring. (I can't really tell how much is there now). That is adjustable with spacers however. (And I think your centerlines are 4 7/8 bs).
There was a 285/70x15 bfg t/a at one time, no longer available apparently. It would not have fit your application anyway, too tall.
Edit: it looks like a 295 might rub on your inside inner fender. That is also fixable with a small spacer.

Thanks but it’s not 295/50 I want, it’s 295/65

Sorry, I misread.
The 295/65 might fit..... IF you move the whole rearend back a half inch or so.
Haha ok thanks

What about 295/55 ? Think they should fit as they are the same height as the 275’s

Same caviat as post#33. If you have a half inch of room on both sides of the tires you have now, and no change in height, should work.
The only 295/55s I know of are drag radials. Is that what you are looking at?
