69 Bee,electronic ignition,440,starts and runs ok for about 15-30 seconds, then shuts off as if I turned the ignition off.wiil st6art back up,but continues shutting off. Using a Mopar electronic ign. kit and a Blaster coil.Been in the car for years, new firewall block and wires, ignition switch and rear ignition connector plug in,all rewired, old one was partilly melted.Thinking it could be a Ballast resistor, but that coil sounds interesting too.

Probably need a more detailed description of your setup. Is this a new setup ? Or has it been I the car for a while and this is a new problem ?

Mopar electronic ignition ? What coil are you using ? Lots of details that will help everyone help solve the problem

Just went thru this with mine. Coil crapped out. Eventually wouldn't start just crank. Changed the coil, all good

I installed a new electronic distributor and ICM from Amazon.
Ran great for about 200 miles. Started, ran 15-30 seconds, shut down wouldn't start. Ordered a new ICM from Rock Auto, installed and fired right up.

What is your voltage at the coil while running ? What is the voltage at the coil when it shuts off ?

Now, aren't you glad you joined the league of vehicle owners that traded the standard Mopar points system to prand Xx electronic ignition conversion systems and have had NOTHING BUT TROUBLES after the conversion. Look at all the stories you can relate to all of your car buddies, just how much difficulties you've had and how much $$ you've spent on the system only to break down and leave you stranded.......now the complaining about Chinese parts, corroded bulk head connections, bad coils, poor advice, vacuum leaks, post fuel milage.....all in search of the 50+ hp increase promised by advertising, cruise buddies, .......was it worth the aggregation??

Wow, the guy is looking for help not you bashing him for upgrading his car. Thousand upon thousands of people make this change with little to no issue. Points have also left stranded more than once…..

To the OP, it’s obviously ignition related and when it’s random like that it’s hard to say. But seeing as it does run I’d rule out the ballast and start looking at the ignition control module and coil. Do you have spares of either laying around that you can try?

Too many seat of the pants "engineers", with best intentions but no real knowledge of how the system works, other than a magazine article or a buddy's word of mouth recommendation, spending $$ and plunge ahead making a good, reliable origional Mopar ignition systems worse. WHY change something that doesn't need charging, searching for what??.......more HP or better MPG or smoother idling or bragging rights or peer pressure?? "Upgrading the car"......to race it or ???.....what is your ultimate goal?......it's just a hobby car. Many thousands of customers spent thousands of $$$.....and the only people benefiting from the expenditures is the suppliers of the components.....unless you just like tinkering with car for something to do.......????.....just my opinion of course........it's your car, perhaps you should do a search on the FBBO forum as this same issue has been discussed at least 500 times previously........

New forum rule. Everyone shall consult Bob, prior to doing any modifications to their car.

Really...... you honestly need to stop responding on this board.

I love how you think NO one knows anything but you. One can only sit back and laugh at your worthless post.

You truly do have a problem and I actually feel a little sad for you.

Once again offer no help to OP, just here to have a tantrum. You don't want to actually help ? Then move on

Are we sure this isn't a fuel delivery problem?

Sounds like enough time to drain the bowls before the pump catches up.

I had exactly that issue last week with a small diesel generator.

C'mon guys...Bob is just trying to help the way he knows how. He was trained in an era where logic and correctness over-ruled random thought processes.

I would hate to see this descend into a battle of wits over something silly and unnecessary. :)

If he was here to help the OP then should he not be doing that ?

Because logic would say.... if someone is asking for help they would expect just that .

Not to be insulted and harassed for the choices they made on their own vehicle.

There is no reason for this to be a battle of wits , although this is the only thing RJ cares about .

If he truly has the wits .... then he can prove them by assisting in problem solving the orginal question.

But we all know how that will turn out.

I don't know.........Bob has earned a place on my FBBO Mt. Rushmore :D

Using a Mopar electronic ign. kit and a Blaster coil.
Is the ECU mounted on the firewall and have the mounting holes for the screws been cleaned back to some bare metal for a good grounding of the case.?

Bad ground will not allow unit to work correctly.

Was all this done recently to try and solve the short run problem ? Or did you do all the rewiring and then problem started ?

As a Draftsman I work with a lot of Engineers & Architects. Architects are Prima donna's while Engineers struggle with people skills.
Doesn't mean their bad people they just come across that way some times.
I don't think it is a ballast resister problem if it runs any more past letting off the key start. I have had a coil do what you are describing.
Also my 76 Power Wagon would do this and it turned out to be the ECU but it had to sit 15-30 minutes before it would start again
