My new stock stroke 400 build

Wish I had a before picture but it was pretty gorey.

I went out to the garage to check exactly what happened. Hunt2elk had it right. Bad picture but the threads pulled right out of the adjuster block. You can see them on the bolt. The other picture is the driver's side so you can see how much the bolt fired back into my hand when it let go. Hindsight being 20/20, the passenger side was harder to turn than the driver's side.

Can you replace the adjuster block and the bolt with the control arm in the car?

Yes. Just slide the adjuster block in from the side and then engage the bolt.

Good luck and hope you heal quick!

I've put in new block and bolts from FF. But to be honest I'd much rather find nice originals. The threads felt quite sloppy on the aftermarkets

Yes, easy peasy. There are a couple different varieties out there from the aftermarket, fine or course threads. I think I went with QA1. I put antiseize on the threads when installing them.

Not much of an update, the palm of my hand has healed, but my hand swells up if I don't wrap it. I have an appointment tomorrow with a plastic surgery clinic to see what's going on. They think it could be damage to the tendon sheath. Needless to say the car has not moved from the hoist since the accident, so nothing to report. We are leaving on vacation in two weeks, so likely no updates until after we get back. I figured these pictures wouldn't offend the squeamish.

I hope your hand heals well - the car can wait.

Yes your David is a machine Don! My buddy has offered to replace the adjuster for me.

I just got back from my appointment with the plastic surgery clinic. They poked and prodded and decided everything was healing well. They said the swelling was normal and could take another month to go down. No further treatment necessary. Now I have to start working on loosening up the fingers. They are pretty stiff and sore from not moving.

Minor update. To add insult to injury (literally) my brand new battery started leaking. I noticed some corrosion on my hoist. When I removed it I found one cell was low. Looks like there must be a crack somewhere, but nothing obvious. My buddy Rick replaced the battery no problem. I had to remove the battery tray and brackets due to acid damage. I got them cleaned and painted and ready to reinstall. I also got a new torsion bar adjuster block and bolt. Rick has offered to come and help install the adjuster ( my wife doesn't trust me to do it). We are headed off on vacation Friday, so not much will happen until we get back. Moparfest is the following weekend, so it will be the first good test drive with the new combo.
