My new stock stroke 400 build

I went out to the garage to check exactly what happened. Hunt2elk had it right. Bad picture but the threads pulled right out of the adjuster block. You can see them on the bolt. The other picture is the driver's side so you can see how much the bolt fired back into my hand when it let go. Hindsight being 20/20, the passenger side was harder to turn than the driver's side.

I've put in new block and bolts from FF. But to be honest I'd much rather find nice originals. The threads felt quite sloppy on the aftermarkets

Can you replace the adjuster block and the bolt with the control arm in the car?
Yes, easy peasy. There are a couple different varieties out there from the aftermarket, fine or course threads. I think I went with QA1. I put antiseize on the threads when installing them.
