I hope we don’t have a repeat of this behavior again this year!

What wasn't so funny, was the ticket was $200, and was written as a moving violation, rather than defective equipment. The lesson learned from my experience is to do a pre-trip inspection before you drive your car off the Carlisle show field.

Should’ve been a fix it ticket.

I would've said ... fyi, you tail light is non-functioning ..... might want to check that out. Careful pulling out.

MG tag on the unmarked ... local cop.

Interesting situation with local enforcement in Carlisle. Officer told me he was under pressure from his supervisor to write equipment defects as moving violations. Then told me to fight it, and if the judge didn't throw it out, he would reduce the charge to a non moving violation. My passenger with me at the time was a former state trooper, and he was really unhappy with the way things happened.

So is this an issue at Carlise with cops? This is my first time going in many MANY years and first time with a car…

I have attended the Chrysler Nationals every year since it started in 1991, most years with a vintage Mopar, never had a problem until this one. They threw the book at a senior citizen who has pumped significant revenue into the local economy by attending the event. The vehicle defect was remedied in the parking lot. What do you think?

I think it's BS due to the issue. The police don't care or think about who you are or how many years you have stimulated their economy. Most any way. We got stopped at MITP years ago for a light violation. Good thing Joe was a designated driver. "I must have missed that when I did my walk around" helped the situation. Not even a written warning. A $200 ticket and a moving violation is not right. Yep, I'll see the judge on that one.

A few years ago we sold a car to a couple of Swedish guys. They drove it out the gate and to another lot where their car trailer was. Cops pulled them over with guns drawn! They said they were scared $hitless. The cops gave them the riot act because of no tags, registration and insurance. They said they wrote them up for everything they could think of. Be careful up there.
