Law Enforcement apprehends a ‘Bad Guy’ FBBO member at Carlisle

I'm sorry that you had to go through that. According to my unofficial research, about 60% of police are Dick's.
The new breed of police don't know the law or the constitution and they are not there to "serve and protect".
I can't understand why they are able to harass people like you for a turn signal? Glad to hear you got it taken
care of.
And that ^ is the crux of the problem.

When I was young and dumb I had my fair share of police interactions, I don’t trust them either. I don’t hate them, but I don’t want to have anything to do with them either…
I had a brand new van in the early 70's. I spent more time on the side of the road with cops taking the insides of my van a part than I did enjoying it. Back then, a pot seed would get you busted and that's just what they were looking for. Between them and the parents of my dates, I sold it. Some things have changed and some haven't.

I think your shop foreman has you covered.

I don't want the shop foreman anywhere near the cops....... I hear too many stories of cops shooting dogs, especially the scary looking ones

I have no idea what they're like in Carlisle Pa.

I live in the sticks of 12-15 miles East of Sonora, Ca.
a lil' 80+ home community
almost all the county, CHP & local LEOs & F&WL wardens
all live here...
I know most all of them personally, they are all great guys/gals,
most all of them are car/truck or Jeep guys too, family men/women
funny guys, cool guys/gals, many of them like to drink, BBQ & cut up
just like most all of US all do...

Most are animal/dog lovers too

I'm sure if you're respectful to them, they'd not go off on you
if you're an ***, give them a reason to be an *** to you
(you know some people are just an ***, ask for trouble, draw it in)
you deserve what ever they do, it's a thankless job, I wouldn't want to do it...

They do make great pay now, not like it was before... 6 figures

Now after saying that I've had many interactions with LEOs
because of my cars usually, a few fights etc...
I've done some really stupid **** too, when I was young-er
& I still was never been disrespectful to any LEO, ever, even getting arrested...
Beat some dudes *** in public for screwing/a beating with a friend,
or breaking my old roommates jaw, in 9 places with 1 punch
"for taking my tools & dealing drugs out of my house"...

LEO's know when it's right, 'most', will act the proper way too...

I reason with them, not be an *** to them, even if it's some petty BS...
I usually just got/get a warning or a 'fix it' ticket... :blah:

Now prior to being 21, I got a warning from a judge,
if I was in there again in the next year he was going to jail me...
I got 51 tickets, in Concord & Walnut Creek or Antioch, east-bay area
all mostly cruising, too loud exhaust, obstruction out of the hood or a scoop
even too wide of tires, the towns or in Walnut Creek, Ca east-bay
& got a couple for stupid **** like getting sideways
in my v8 Vega out of a parking-lot, in Fairfield showing off...
They were notoriously asses, I still got off...

My best friend Jeff "The Beak", his dad Wayne was a Lt. CHP (later Capt.)
in the Martinez office,
he'd sign off on most all my tickets, I'd fix them & he was cool
most of the time I was still respectful, or joking with them,
many are just good guys, in rough & tough job
many, many of them with a good sense of humor too,
if you're not a dirtbag or act like one
& I'd just got warnings (I'd have well over 100+ otherwise)
even in this commies state...

A Small % are asshole, like any sort of work, jerks in inner-shitty's are worse by far
a total power trip seemingly, always in a poor mood, some dick made it a bad day
you give them a reason to be an asshole, they can & will be...
just don't be

Many years ago we were on the way to the lake pulling our crank up camper.
We had just turned on to the second highway and met the RCMP, our national police force. The lights came on.
My passenger was quick to point out (shouldn’t be speeding), I replied 97k in a 100k zone is not speeding.
There was a senior constable and rookie from Quebec. They pulled me over because I didn’t have trailer lights. Bright sunshine 10:00 in the morning. I said the vehicle lights were visible and didn’t need trailer lights in the day time . The traffic act had changed. The senior constable said it was rookie’s decision to give me a ticket or not. The rookie said he had to, and I better get the lights fixed, or they would tow it. (I wanted to say the whole 50 miles to the lake?). Didn’t. Went back the 4 miles to the service station where we usually stopped. The owner let me solder my wiring and said there were lots of complaints about that rookie.
About a week later the Commanding Officer from the area came to see me professionally. I mentioned my ticket. He said go to court, the judge will toss it.
I would have take half a day off work, drive 100 miles. Decided I just pay the ticket. What I didn’t know was, it was classified as a moving violation. I got 2 demerit points on my driver’s licence. That sucked

Your sentence, most are animal/dog lovers sums it up.
In the 50’s and earlier certainly in the 60’s the police had far more leeway. You could be sent straight home with a warning, or told not to do it again. This was in a rural area.
Some of the rookie constables, would come into local detachments and be extremely officious. Quite often these overzealous officers were reassigned to towns next to (as it was called Indian reserves) that had problems. It did carry into the early 80’s.
A female rookie constable stopped a mature farmer as the story goes. He was pulling a load of hay bales on a country road, got a ticket for not having red flags on it.
Might not see another vehicle for a long time.
Some time how long, she was on patrol, wouldn’t reply to the radio. A Good Samaritan found her with the car. She was handcuffed outside the car with her hands around the pillar between the front and back door.her pants and underwear were pulled down to her ankles. Rumour had it that she had a lot of mosquito bites.
No one new anything. She was transferred to somewhere.
Did she partially strip on her own? Who knows, no one has breathed a word to this day.
1967 last day before Easter break school had just ended. I was at at a t intersection. Stopped to talk to a classmate, constable Schaler newbie was coming from the right, put his lights on and charged me with not yielding. Gave me a ticket real bummer. So I went to the pool haul. While playing pool George Berzowski town cop who I had mentioned in another post had a 56 Studebaker police car with a Paxton blower. No one would ever try to escape him
George came in and wanted to talk to me. He said said Schaler wanted to charge me under the traffic act. But if I would go to the next town with him and plead guilty under our town bylaw it would be cheaper to see the Justice of the police, who owned the local newspaper.
I pleaded guilty. 10.00 fine and 2.00 court costs.
Schaler eventually got sent to the much larger department about 1970. Surprisingly he was caught with an underage female in a compromising position in his private car off duty. End of his career!

you will never win on the side of the road with a a$$hat with a badge. power trip thing. i didn't like working with guys like that. there the same way off duty as well.

As an Asian raised in rural Pennsylvania, I have a reverse profiling issue when I order hard core traditional dishes at Chinese restaurants catering to international students at Penn State. I always have to request a fork.
Damn . *snaps chop sticks bought especially for Adam*

this is why I never go overboard in my support for law enforcement.......way too many ********....... I hope I never need one, I don't want any at or in my house....... I don't trust them
its a power trip with most. but there are alot that really do care and ain't going to turn a fix it into MV. worked with them in PG CO. MD for a few years and was a constable in PA after i moved. i don't trust them. muni and the SO are the worst. Bedford CO. PA is by far the most crooked system outside of Montana. recording the stop is not a bad idea. jmo

This reminds me of a case I argued over thirty years ago, took place in Cumberland county, not too far from Carlisle. Like the one in this thread, it was about the money, not a power trip. Difference was, the local magistrate was playing the game with the enforcement crew.

A company driver got pulled over for a random weighing on portable scales. He was legal gross, but heavy on the drive axles. PA motor vehicle statues allow the driver the opportunity to re-adjust the load to comply. They do not specify by what means. Typical solution is to utilize a fifth wheel slider to shift weight to the front axle of the tractor. Our driver requested the opportunity, and the crew told him he would have to shovel the load, a sealed load of flour in a bulk tanker. Our driver properly refused to break the seals.

The citation was issued to the company, so I argued the case in front of the local magistrate, ticket was upheld, $900 fine. Supervising officer was cordial after the hearing, turned out we had each graduated from Penn State within a year of each other. He and the magistrate both got a chuckle out the fact that the driver cost the company the fine by refusing to shovel.

My boss approved an appeal to Pennsylvania Common Pleas Court. I wrote a brief, prepped the driver, and spent a full day in a non-jury bench trial. The State of PA appeared with an entourage that included two attorneys, the entire weighing crew, and at least a half dozen additional representatives of the state. The state argued legislative history of the statute. I relied on a PA criminal statute and case law requiring the language be interpreted in the light most favorable to the defendant. The cost of defense for exceeded the amount of the ticket, but the judge found in my favor.

The officer wasn't so cordial after this round. All he said was, "someone will lose a job over this, we had no idea we were messing with a big company." I don't know who did, but from that day on, our 500 trucks passing through the state were always given the opportunity to adjust weight by "mechanical means, rather than physical movement of the cargo."

another bullshit money grab is hiding over a hill. or behind a billboard with radar.......

if the cop sits in plain site, traffic will obey the limit.......... SAFETY should be the first concern, not writing a ticket

but no, they hide............. waiting for the UNSAFE situation, which could possibly end badly........ and write the receipt, err ticket

A buddy just got bagged in a town doing 35 in a 25. Yet, in this state of maniac drivers, the nearby highway has idiots speeding and weaving all over, nary a cherry-top to be found.

Some communities will park empty patrol cars on the side of the road in high speeding areas for exactly that reason. Get them to slow down.

You think Carlisle is bad for crime, we have this neighborhood street gang terrorizing the city!

No, you wouldn’t, they are greasy and disgusting. My son in law who works for the PA state park system, used to pop them with a 12 gauge, to get his water bacteria level in compliance, then bury the evidence. He was too poor to waste edible meat.
You're right. I'm in the migratory corridor for Canada Geese and they fly over me in flocks that number in the thousands, and literally darken the sky. They like to land at the 460 acre dairy farm next to me. Smaller flocks fly low enough that I hit them with rocks. I'm not even a little bit tempted to shoot them. I do clean up a lot of goose poop though.

Maybe good for some pillows and winter coats
