There was about a 5 year span, lets say '83-'88; when my 2 friends and I all had real jobs, ages 18-23ish.

We pretty much dedicated Sunday's to working on our cars. Very few Sundays passed without someone's car getting attention. Sunday was car day.

So today, the first Sunday after Carlisle, I promised myself every Sunday for the foreseeable future, work on my GTX will move forward.

Much of it was done 20-25 years ago and I had it pretty far along. I bought all sorts of stuff along the way........ It's more of a time issue than it is a money issue, and it isn't going to put itself together.

So...... this is my official build thread.

I think I'm counting on you guys to hold me to it. That's why we do this, right?

It was hot and humid as balls today; but I managed to give the shop a much needed cleaning and reorganizing, it was an all day event; Now I have full access. With everything on dollies I can pull it out into the work area and have at it any time I want.

First move is to clean it up, assess where I left off, and get the ball rolling again.......I believe it's been at least 10 years since I've touched anything. I touched it today, and I'll touch it again next Sunday. This doesn't mean the other days are out; but Sunday's are in, for sure.

not a bad lineup.....

Wow....you have some nice projects there. Unfortunately for me, i seem to have to just clean the shop every Sunday after the weeks trashing from paid work.

the AMX and GTX are mine....... the others make a mess during the week

there's another Challenger under the cover, and a Camaro in the other room :BangHead:

Hang in there... you can handle it! I have one that is on my radar for 25 years.. personal struggle to work on it as my dad was supposed to help and I was going to give him the car and instead a massive stroke happened to him .. it’s safe and sound but hard to get motivated on.

Don't feel to bad, I have a 66 Satellite that was a started restoration in 1990. It seems something always got in front of it. So it still sits. It's one of 2 projects that I haven't finished. I also found a 67 GTX 440 4-speed within the last year that I have bought about 7K in parts for that needs to be started on, so that's 3. Most of us have more projects than we will get done.

Good that the Camaro is in another room wouldn't want it to pass on some kinda Chevy disease to the AMX and Mopars. Isolation is where it belongs.. :) Just kidding sweet rides.

all the important stuff is original to the car and in very nice condition....... I did buy a repop or restored? Tail panel and tail light bezels, the originals are kinda beat.

I'm going old school Day 2, slightly obnoxious........ so headers and aluminum intake it is

it's like Christmas in July

here's some more stuff........ it's not like I'm working with junk

probably worth more in parts

these belonged to my 2 friends, these were the other "Sunday" cars.

I was responsible for them having AMCs back in the day, it was my fault, lol........ eventually things happen, and they both became mine.

The GTX is the last of the 3 to get done....... I have zero pictures of any of them from back in the day

we ran the AMX with no hood, I came up with one years later and cut a hole in it......

The Machine was faster than you might think, a 4 speed car........ you had to get him off the line cause it pulled real hard in third gear
