Sundays......

Don't you own a Triumph or MG too?

do they count?

I backed into the Midget :BangHead: ........ tail light and a nice little crunch on the quarter

the Triumph belongs to the wife....... needs brake work, maybe over the winter

Good that the Camaro is in another room wouldn't want it to pass on some kinda Chevy disease to the AMX and Mopars. Isolation is where it belongs.. :) Just kidding sweet rides.

I'm not a Camaro guy, but I can't wait to drive this thing, there is a TON of time and effort in that car......... these pics are tip of the iceberg

if you ever see a first gen Camaro convertible with fatties tucked under it nicely on leaf springs...... tip your cap, I had no clue what I was getting into

Dedicating a day to a specific project is a novel idea.
Some people really need a goal or a target to be able to stay focused. When some people are left to their own wide open schedules, it can be easy to delay, put off and then just not get around to it.
Kudos to you Mark, for being able to set your own schedule and stay motivated. I'm struggling with that since retirement.
I love the freedom that I have now but with it comes the responsibility to not waste time to the degree where nothing gets done.
Since you are self employed, you have to have a self motivation drive that the nine to five guys have supplied to them by their employers schedule.
I spent 36 years waking up early to be to a construction site often before 6:00 AM. I was obligated to meet the schedule that everyone else lived by.
Some people like to work on their stuff alone. I do too, sometimes. Most of the times though, I wish that I had more car buddies that I could hang around with to work on these cars together. I could do this stuff nearly every day, I like it so much.
I'll keep an eye on this thread. It will be good to see you get stuff done for yourself!

I get lonely, trust me. Some things require 2 sets of hands

I just move on until I get a few minutes help.

If only you were local :blah: :blah: :blah:

all the important stuff is original to the car and in very nice condition....... I did buy a repop or restored? Tail panel and tail light bezels, the originals are kinda beat.

I'm going old school Day 2, slightly obnoxious........ so headers and aluminum intake it is

it's like Christmas in July

here's some more stuff........ it's not like I'm working with junk

probably worth more in parts

Those exhaust tips are assembly line OEM. Impressive.

Just talked to a classmate at my high school reunion, who was updating us on his restoration of a 1953 Jag XK120 at every previous event. It took him 32 years, but he just scored 99 points in a concours. I’ll bet the GTX ends up in the same league.

I'm not shooting for the 99 points........ I just want to drive it and look cool doing so

The last time I drove it, early 1989, I took it to the shop I was working at to hang a used quarter on the driver side. I had to leave it outside for the weekend (in a fenced lot).

Went to work Monday morning and found it on it's belly......... no wheels, no carb, no stereo

I put wheels on it and had it towed home.........

quit that job not long after, and the rest is a blur........ :blah::blah::blah:

Thank you Eldubb440! He took these pictures when he helped me bring the R/T home after its alignment. Then we went for a (break-in and debug) drive. My car is now a driver. I was starting to feel like I was never going to drive it. (I am going to repost this on my thread too.)

Eldubb440,
Making the decision to start back on your GTX is the first step to finishing it. You are on your way. Now you just have to squeeze work for yourself in between customer projects.

Just keep chipping away at it as you can, even if not for a full day on a Sunday. Unfortunately, with today's junk parts, tools and even equipment, I find myself having to do things sometimes twice more and more often which always makes everything more frustrating.

I'm happy most of my original stuff is usable, and many other things I bought before the wave of Chinesium parts.......

off the top of my head, there are a few things I still need;

I have to figure out brake booster/master cyl, I have my originals

seats/headrests need everything

a set of leaf springs is near the top of the list

brake/fuel lines

vinyl top

the list isn't very long
