Oscilloscope - no idea how to use it !

Duty (cycle) is percentage of time on over time off. For example, a 50% Duty Cycle is equal time on and time off, or time high and time low.

I had my distributor out of the car tonight . Hooked it up to my new favorite tool!

So with this , I can tell that I am getting an even and equal signal for each cylinder ? They look to be even , so would that also be a good indication my that my air gap are also equal ?

I was surprised to see a reading of 7v pkpk . I thought the signal coming from the distributor was in the MV range ?

Also can someone tell me whar the duty means ? View attachment 1890130
To get an apples-to-apples comparison you need to overlap the signals. Figure out how to trigger. Use a rising-edge that is set around 0 volts. Then zoom in so that you see only one waveform. This will overlap the curves.

If you are looking for spark scatter that is better with a timing light and marks on the harmonic balancer. That is where you are checking out the whole system.
