Finally got the charger to the local 1/8 mile strip and bracket raced. It was humid and near 98 degrees. 440 powered, my first pass was a 8.0. The MSD 6al died and I wired up a gm hei module to get it running which worked great below 5k. After 5k it wasnt happy... so I short shifted. 1.82 60' on our M/T E.T. streets, that was walking it out a few feet! Rear suspension is stock. We have quite a bit more e.t. we can knock off. But it drove great and I could not have had more fun, even though I didn't win a race. Seriously..Just getting there was a win!!!! Charger is over 4000lbs w me in the seat..the last time we had it out on the highway it was drove 250 miles. I drove it to the gas station with my nephew and put in 91.
Charger is still rocking the curious yellow paint my brother @Dodge Bros and I did one night after freshmen year of high School in 1988!

Great job getting it out and doing what it was made for!
The guys foot braking have gotten better at it in the last few decades! Earlier in the season a friend let me race his 80s buick regal and I won the first 2 rounds lost 3rd round. The buick was a caged race car and I didnt realize how uncomfortable I was in it until I raced the charger. I especially disliked the buick plastic race seat and I had to cut reweld and lower the seat on race day just so I could get into it w my helmet. Still wasnt comfy.. I just fit better in the b body and the wings windows on a 69 were a life saver in the heat. On the Charger I kept trying to change the lauch because it was causing the pinion snubber to hit the floor hard if I didnt load the suspension while staging. But when I loaded the suspension up against the stall I red lit back to back and gave the race away. It spun then as well. It was getting later in the day..maybe the track was going away. Dunno
This video is from racing the Buick earlier this year.

Nice that you got it to the track. Folks just don’t do that anymore.

Thanks for posting. Keep us updated as you sort through it.

What was your mph, 90mph?

That a solid 11 sec car.
The 8.0 was 88mph so not in the 11's just yet. My best passes I was on the brakes so I didn't break out... so I may have been close to 90. I switched from the MSD 6al (died after 30 years) to a $33 Hei module. I went from shifting at 6k to closer to 5k...ya get what u pay for! So, I feel like 11's are easily attainable. It was also hotter then Hades saturday and this 850dp carb came right off our open header 10.50 race car and we changed nothing. I wouldn't call it tuned. But it drives great and idled in the staging lines like its ready to cruise downtown.

Having fun is what it’s all about. Looks like your helper enjoyed it as well.

This was a reminder to me of how much I enjoyed racing when I was younger.
My 13 year old Nephew helps with the videos, he is a great kid!
