Man opens whiskey saved 17 years—instantly learns hard lesson

Just glad I don't drink Whiskey at all. Makes you frisky if anything. Might use some for BBQ sauces, but rarely. Lesson learned I suppose...cr8crshr/Bill :usflag::usflag::usflag:

Heathen.....

The only thing that should be mixed with Single Malt Scotch is maybe a finger of water from the stream at which the distillery sourced to make the mash originally. :p

There's a lesson here, touched on by the article but taken in terms of our cars:

Live now. Enjoy them now. Whenever you can drive them, drive them.

What's in those coolers? Donated livers for potential transplants?
  2 are empty. One I keep my beer grains in. Keeps the bugs and critters out.

I have a serious collecting problem. And this was 2 years ago.

Yes, please stop. I used to be able to walk into the local store and buy blantons or Weller, now, it's a mad dash when the store opens because 10 bottles of Blanton's or Weller isn't as good as 20. I drink what I buy. This started just before covid and went over the top during covid, kind of like the camper craze. Judging by the amount of used campers for sale, seems that craze is on a major downturn.
Not picking on you, one of my best friends does the same crap. He's got about 3 or 4 times what you have. There's no point in hoarding, drink what you buy and there's plenty enough to go around.
This soley the opinion of this poster and does not reflect the opinions of this board. Your results may vary.

I have a lot of bottles and just a few I have multiples of. Just because they are so good and/ or I helped with the barrel pick. Here in Iowa, the state runs the liquor business and we get very few allocated bottles. Most of them that I own I won through a raffle. Many of mine are barrel picks. I also order some online but the shipping will eat you up. I don't own any Pappy, I have one Blantons. I have collected a few Buffalo Trace since before June of 21 when I started keeping track. Most of the Buffalo Trace products are over hyped and over priced so other than may be a single bottle of something to collect and drink, I don't buy much.

Ok, so I was wrong. My apologies. It is a sore subject I am passionate about. Didn't mean to single you out.

Not a problem. I feel the same way. Something I would like 1 bottle of is unobtanium and I hear someone bought a case somehow. As an example, I was standing talking to a store manager the day a barrel pick came in. I had one bottle. A fellow came in, grabbed a cart and loaded up 6 1/2 cases not leaving much for others. I said to the manager "what about all your regular customers. They don't have a chance at a bottle." The guy apparently was part of the group that did the picking and took orders for that many bottles. Most stores around here have to enter a raffle with the State to get just 1 bottle. Often times the State only get's a case or two of the allocated bottles to be divided between 99 counties and hundreds of stores. You rarely find one of those bottles that hits the shelf.

Sounds to me like Prohibition with a different name....or Restrictive Purchase at least.

Then you feel my pain. I waited outside in sub zero weather in line at 8 am behind 5 or 6 others that had gotten there at 5 am. One guy jumps out of his car before the doors are unlocked, owner lets him in, and he walks out with a box full of Blanton's, none left when I finally made it in there. Just bullcrap that I can't walk in and buy what I want because guys are buying it up and hoarding it, selling it online for 3 or 4 times the price. Just infuriates me. I want this to end, go back to where it was before, a hard reset as it were. And nose rings to go away, oh, and tattoos, especially face, oh and neck tattos too. And green hair. Unemployed college grads with gender studies degrees and 100k in student loan debt. And guys buying cars to part them out after they've survived 60 years. I will think of more things, don't you worry. Now, back to my Ocean, Jefferson's Ocean that is. And a round ice cube. Did I mention I love big round ice cubes? With bourbon on them? They remind me of something else, that I can't quite put my finger on, I recall those jiggle tho, or something like that. Oh look! The TV is on!
