Meter Match.

I just dialled up the instruction manual for the Meter Match unit, and it looks like a lot of reading and comprehension to get that thing working well. Either that or a whole heap of dumb luck getting it right.

I just use that traditional method of filling the tank every time I go out, and refill when it looks a bit on the low side, or I mentally calculate how far I'll get based on what I have travelled.

BTW I have a custom fuel tank - basically a big rectangular box - and a vertical fuel sender unit....like picture below

The fuel gauge works off 5 volts. Over volting would give you a high reading if I'm not mistaken. The original fuel gauge is powered by the voltage limiter on the back of the cluster.

The traditional Mopar ohms resistance is EMPTY 73--75, HALF SCALE -- 23-25, and FULL 10-13 or so

I connected the external power supply instead of the battery and tested it in car. All the gauges were still powered like when the car drives getting 5V throught the dash limiter.

Where do I connect the wire from the Meter Match box to the fuel gauge? I tried the dark blue wire with a tracer coming from the ignition switch but I don't see any changes using the MM box.

I intercepted the wire at the connector in the driver kick panel. Avoided cutting the wires just took both sides out of the connector and one was in from the tank the other side to the gauge.

That's what I ended up doing but I didn't think about removing the wires from the connector plugs.

My fuel gauge stopped working after installing the MeterMatch.

Yea you need the trunk half of the wire for the sender side of the meter match and the other side to the gauge. Then follow the instructions its a little hard to follow so read it a few times. I hope this helps.

On the dial select position 1 if your tank is full. Press the up button until the gauge reads full. Then hit save.

Then on the dial select position 4 You might want to do this step once the tank is empty or near empty.

You can do it even if the tank is full but I'm not sure on the accuracy. Might be better to do with the tank empty.
Press the down button until the gauge shows empty. Then hit save.

You should now have the upper limit saved and the lower limit saved. Then set the dial back to 0. You should be all set.

I have the connections made but the gauge stopped registering anything now.

I wonder if the meter match is hosed. There may be a way to reset it. Id have to look at the instructions again. Its been a year or so since I messed with it.

I talked to the tech guy at Tanks Inc for 20 minutes. He went over the reset procedure and answered all my questions. I reconnected the box and rest it to defaults. When I tried to program position 1 (full) as my tank is full, pressing the button had no effect on the gauge.

Looks like a defective box.

I emailed Technoversions, where I bought it from, to setup a return. Unfortunately, Email is their only means of communication.

Kudos to Tanks Inc. and you guys for trying to help me.
