So, trying to prep our Jeep TJs for long life. I'll be drilling (4) 1/2” drain holes in each frame to let mud and crap drain out (there's tons of holes in the sides of the boxed frame that let stuff in, but no bottom holes to let stuff out) and I plan to coat the insides with....something.

Any thoughts?

Spray oil?

Eastwood frame coating?

I may pull the rear bumper crossmember and drill 2 holes in the rear end plates of the rails. Theoretically I could feed a hose through that, all the way to the front of the frame, then spray...something, as I pull the hose back out for good coverage...

This is what I bought for my 65. Haven't used it yet, but plan to do it once I'm done fabbing/welding. Get it in the cavities, frame rails etc. Will do another round of vacuum and high pressure air beforehand. Plus any painting beforehand too. I got the big can so I can use their Shutz type gun with the 4' wand plus several spray cans with smaller wands.

Many years ago I attacked that problem by securing a rag to to one end of quarter inch threaded rod , chuck other end in a drill motor , dip in rusty metal primer and slap it around in the cavity in order to coat it. This of course after doing my best to clean the cavity. I never did really know how well it coated in there as I had no scope. Pretty primitive stuff but it was 30 years ago.

My friend used the Eastwood Internal Frame Coating Plus with Nozzle on his 2003 Jeep sport.

This is my suggestion. Multiple different brands, but cavity wax is a great option, especially if the inside is clean. 3M has some good videos of a clear "rocker" panel that they coat. It shows how well it covers and then sets up. That's my plan for the rockers and inner bedsides on the truck I'm restoring.

I also use the Eastwood internal coating too. On the areas where I've been fabbing, I shoot that stuff in the gaps/overlaps etc. I modified one of the wands to jet the stuff in. Makes a mess, but it blasts it through. I cut off the little brass head, slipped an uninsulated butt connecter in the hose, crimped the exposed end some to make a nozzle. Instead of using weld thru primer, which out here has no adhesion, I shoot that stuff in after I'm done. That gives me a bit of a primer base for seam sealer to adhere to.
