2025 15th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - I Can't Wait!!!

The point reset protocol and special rules for the end-of-season 6-event "Countdown" was last posted during the 2024 "Pick 'Em" game. So, for both new NHRA "Pick 'Em" game players and those who forgot, here they are:

PLEASE NOTE SPECIAL "COUNTDOWN" GAME RULES (effective following the U.S. Nationals):
* The "pick carry over" is not in effect for the end-of-season 6-event "Countdown". You MUST either post picks for each event or "lock" your picks if you feel you may forget to post new event picks or you want to guard against your computer going down for any reason. Of course, you can always override your "locked" picks for any event or change your "locked" picks at any time.
* If your picks are currently "locked" then they will continue to be "locked". If your picks are not "locked" or they are "carry over" picks from previous events, then you MUST post picks for the next event and each following event in order to stay in the "Countdown" for the remainder of the 2025 NHRA season. Of course, you can post new picks for the first event of the "Countdown" and "lock" them.
* If you override your "locked" picks for a single event, your picks will revert back to the "locked" picks for the next event unless you post otherwise
* Following the completion of the U.S. Nationals I WILL NOT BE SENDING ANY REMINDERS TO POST PICKS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2025 NHRA SEASON. To use a classic drag racing saying, "If you snooze, you lose"!
*If your picks are not "locked" and you fail to post picks for any event during the "Countdown", then you will be "parked" for the rest of the 2025 NHRA season with the points you have earned up to that time.

Here's how the game points will be re-set following the completion of the U.S. Nationals:

2000.0 - "Pick 'Em" game point leader after the U.S. Nationals
1970.0 - second place player unless the point separation from the first place position is less than 30 points. If you are only separated from the first place player by less than 30.0 points, then you will maintain that lower-than-30.0 point separation.

All player positions below the second place score will be separated by 10.0 points unless a player is less than 10 points from the player in the position in front of them. If you are only separated from the player immediately in front of you by less than 10.0 points, then you will maintain that lower-than-10.0 point separation.
Example:
In the 2019 game, '64BEL' (FBBO) was only 4.5 points behind the player in front of him so he started the "Countdown" separated by only 4.5 points.

By the way, the 30-point lead at the beginning of the "Countdown" is not insurmountable. In the 2019 game, the game leader following the U.S. Nationals had a 30.0 point lead at the beginning of the "Countdown", but did not win the game.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

Congratulations to 'TT5.9mag' (FABO) for winning the 2025 Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals Top Qualifier title with a PERFECT total of 32.0 bonus points. He correctly picked the #1 qualifier in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
'cuda20' (FABO) and 'johnnycuda' (FABO) were right behind with 30.5 bonus points.
'GTXDAN' was the highest FBBO qualifier with 30.0 bonus points.

More great picks!

We have 17 players this week and 12 different driver combos made up of:
* 6 different Top Fuel drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between #5 qualifier Antron Brown (1 pick) and #12 qualifier Justin Ashley (1 pick). There is also a possibility of one head-to-head matchup in Round 2 if both drivers survive.
* 4 different Funny Car drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. The earliest possibility of a head-to head matchup is in the semi-Final round of eliminations if both drivers survive.
* 3 different Pro Stock drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. The earliest possibility of a head-to-head matchup is in the semi-Final round if both drivers survive.

* 3 different Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers. The earliest possibility of a head-to-head matchup is in the semi-Final round of eliminations if both riders survive until then.

Good luck all!

Surprisingly, not a lot of position movement even with the points-and-a-half for elimination round wins at the U.S. Nationals.

Now we get a weekend off to study our picks before the first event of the six-race "countdown".
The next race event on the 2025 season will be the 40th annual Reading NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, PA, scheduled for September 11-14.
nhra.com currently shows the following class entry numbers:

14 - Top Fuel
18 - Funny Car
17 - Pro Stock
13 - Pro Stock Motocycle

As always, please check to verify your picks are participating before posting your picks.
GOOD LUCK!

The "pick 'Em" game points reset after the U.S. Nationals per post #301. I will post the reset point totals in the next day or two so be on the lookout.

This is still anybody's game and it's going to be exciting with a lot of position movement over the six-race Countdown.

Our two new FBBO players are going to have an impact.

PLEASE don't forget to post your picks before the start of qualifying for each Countdown race if you do not have "locked" picks!

There are no pick carryovers and there will not be any reminders to post your picks for the remainder of the game.

PLEASE REVIEW THE SPECIAL "COUNTDOWN" GAME RULES SHOWN IN POST #294 MARKED WITH A "*"

GOOD LUCK ALL!

just some talking smack

I had 2 winners, F/C & P/SM

Antron Brown let me down too much, I need a change, gave him all the chances I could
now watch he'll win now :BangHead:

&

I was surprised P/S G. Anderson blew off the tires, out of the gate/early rds
he had everyone covered :BangHead:
I did like seeing KB/Titan team win

I hated seeing P/S Miss Piggy/Enders even in it, "Elite Team BS" :icon_fU:
she got handed a pass 2 of the 3 passes (only Greg Stanfield) seemed like gave her a run
& then let off at the stripe, all team BS rds
(sure seemed like it, shady ****) getting her into the finals
they all laid down or sat, I hate that team BS, run em'

Nice job Bel !
Back attcha, alsant!

Hey guys, we have 4 in the top 7. Lets bring it home 2 years in a row!

I hear you, Bud! I almost bailed out on Justin Ashley after the last few races, but he held me up this week. I am considering going with Dallas Glenn, though. I think he was my lock at the beginning of the year. But if I switch, Greg Anderson will surely punish me for it.

I knew Ashley was going to beat Tony, as Tony has never been faster than .050 on the light, and I think Ashley had an average of .034 on his previous rounds. It was still good to see him make the final. It was 60 degrees when the first round started at 10:00 am. They said the weather conditions were better than Friday night, that's why Brittany was able to lay down that big number. They just keep beating themselves because they go lay down a big number then come back and can't get down the track the next round or so. I don't know if they showed it on TV but there was a lot of lane swapping going on in both fuel classes and pro stock too. Somebody wouldn't make it down the track and the next pair would change lanes.
The turn out was down for some reason as the bleachers where I sat (pit side) was only about half full. The other side is all reserved seats and it hasn't been full in 10 years at least. I don't know if they showed what Cornwell tools did for all the other winners but it was pretty cool. They had one of those huge tool boxes full of tools ($17,000 said value) that they gave away to one of the other class winners. They have a small stage set up in front of the bleachers and gather all the other class winners to introduce them to everybody. When they went up on the stage they selected a new box set of screw drivers and took with them onstage. They opened the box and if it contained a certificate for the tool box they won it.
I've been to a lot of races between Nascar and NHRA and that's the first time I've ever seen an AWACS plane do a fly over. Kind of different but still cool.

Just in case any players with "locked" picks may have forgotten who they have "locked", here is a list of what my records show:
