Hello All,
I was driving my 70 Superbee and after stalling at a light I noticed a noise between a click and small knock to the engine not super loud but noticeable like a bad rocker or small knock.

compression Tested all 8 cylinders and all but lovely #6 are performing at minimum 130 psi. #6 is hitting 60 psi at best. #6 spark plug was also wet and oily unlike the rest a bit more dry.

Is this a blown head gasket issue or more? I have only test compression and changed oil. No signs of metal shavings in oil change.

Pull the valve cover on that side and inspect rocker, pushrod, spring ect.

If all looks good have a way to put compressed air into that cylinder so you can listen in the carb and tailpipe to hear if you have a burnt or bent valve.

Ok thank you for the tip and trick I will try that. If the valve is open won’t you hear the air and it would be functioning as normal? But I guess if it’s closed you’d know if there is a leak.

Is there a hole in the rocker? Have to look see if the lifter blew out/ apart. New lifter( maybe) pushrod and rocker, probably good to go

Might not be to bad,I have bent 2 pushrods in my 440 and had no damage to the engine. Slapped two in and all was good.

What kind of oil do you use in the engine? Lifters alone might not be the answer. If the lifters are taping id expect a lobe or 2 gone on the cam. Take the intake off and inspect the lifters and pull them. Then check out the lobes on your cam.

Yes will do all of that. Was running 10/40 on an older engine

I'd like to see cam lobes...was this built during the rash of poorly hardened cores? Or mirror flat lifters?
