70 satellite wheelbase 2 vs 4 door

I tried to Google with no luck. Does anyone know if the wheelbase between the two, and four door satellite is the same?

I'll keep googling it anyway.

Wikipedia says 116" for all thats worth.

It does note that some of the Dodges of the era were an 1" longer, so maybe its accurate.

117" is what Google says for both 2 vs 4doors. All the uni body structures are all the same. Of course, the roofs are different.

I did a bit more research, it looks like the satellite is the same 2 vs 4 door, but an inch shorter than a B body Dodge. I guess the floor is the same exact length, but its something in the rear suspension thats different.

I bought a 69 or 70 satellite four door sight unseen, I'm going to get it this weekend, and I'm toying around with ideas for it since I'm very good at sheet metal work.

116" for all 1966-1970 Plymouth B-bodies, regardless of 2-, or 4-door. Same years Dodge B-bodies were 117" wheelbase. This was achieved by using 1" longer front spring brackets for Dodge, rather than any actual structural change to the unitbody. The exception to this is that 1966-1970 Dodge B-body station wagons were the same 116" wheelbase as Plymouth B-body. My guess is that Chrysler did not want to tool up for a 1" longer roof for relatively low production Dodge wagons.

That's good to know, thank you sir! I'm very new to mopar, or at least owning one. I've had all kinds of classic GM cars, and I'm looking forward to getting this satellite.

so...... this pushes the centering pin rearward one inch? what happens at the back end of the spring? is the main leaf different, or does the shackle absorb the extra inch?

I think they just changed the rear shackle mounting point.

That 1" would not affect the roof.

As noted above, the rear Shackle mounting point is 1" farther back on a dodge.

They do look the same in the pics. When you order new springs they are the same for both Dodge and Plymouth.

Back in that day, wheelbase was a selling point and a status symbol.

The "one inch" was as much of a marketing ploy to make the Dodge models seem more upscale than the Plymouth.
